so what were you trying to accomplish with this track. Cause it doesn't seem to do much. The quality of the mix doesn't sound right either. Do you spend a good amount of time mixing and mastering your stuff...cause if you want people to continue buying your tracks, you really need to invest in proper mastering. There's a place in Fla, that does it for under 100$ and does it really well. Just go listen to SCD's stuff as he get's all his mastering done through them.

" so what were you trying to accomplish with this track. Cause it doesn't seem to do much."

I was fishing for abrasive/douchey replies... lol

Seriously though you're right, this one is definitely laid back-- I've been on the afterhours tip lately. I find that musically what I do is often a reaction to what I've done recently- over New Years I threw a 3 day party- most of which was very chill (the 8 hours around NYE was bangin for sure though) and I made this since then so I feel like it comes from that atmosphere- definitely a day 2.5 loungey sensation

I appreciate everything you said. Thanks for the link I will certainly check it out.

Jeff- what exactly didn't you like about the mixing/mastering? Too muddy, to high... what about it bothered you? Why didn't the mastering sound on point to you specifically? Mastering is something that I've only begun to attempt on my own. The person who used to do it for me is crazy busy right now so I've been trying to do it myself... lol I guess I should leave that to the experts... nonetheless I would like to know why it doesn't sound right.

The song is nice man, the overall parano feeling. I have to admit I expected more when I heard the 1st minute.
I think its a nice idea, and you mix in well the dialogs from Fear n Loathing but (in my opinion) it lacks life, a certain flair. You could play a little bit more with the basslines and the riff, vary the drum rolls a bit.

Im not an expert and some may not agree, thats just my 2 cents. Keep it up!

hi michael, i am the scd that jeff was referring to in his initial post. i use www.vonsdigital.com if you are interested. its worth it imo.

but for me i feel it should sound as perfect as possible before you even send it to be mastered. honestly you would need to fix this before sending it imo. the bass is too muddy kills the whole mix. you have to find the space your bass is going to live on and stick with it. either around 100/200/500, whatever. if you want a real fat one like this to make it there are ways to make it happen. but if dont think that its necessary here. just drop out some of the frequencies of the bass that the kick lives on as well as the pianos. you dont need the bass that fat imo. its all part if the process tho dude, keep at. if you could here how my music used to sound
