Hillary Clinton is by far the best candidate.

By what standard? She loses to McCain in a head-to-head right now and Obama compares more favorably than her against every GOP comer. Edwards beats her, too. Also, she starts out with half of the country hating her guts. From a horse race standpoint, she's the GOP's best friend which, regardless of what you think of her policies, makes her the worst candidate, IMO.

I actually think this played a pretty large role in what happened. Obama's internal polling showed him at 37, Hillary at 30, which is more or less consistent with what other polls showed. Point is, Obama got his 37%, and the difference-maker was undecided women who overwhelmingly showed up for Clinton.

Imagine you're an undecided woman trying to figure out who to support and a couple of douchebags show up chanting "Iron My Shirt." Think that might persuade you to side with the woman in a show of solidarity? I think it might. In fact, in light of the amount of media coverage that got in NH, I think it did. My totally unscientific opinion, FWIW.

Here's the interesting thing about this, though. Before delivering her line about the remnants of sexism, she asked that the lights be brought up. Sure makes it easier to film something like that when the lights are up. I suppose it's possible that she recognized what they were doing, decided to take advantage of the moment with a zinger and determined that it would get the best media coverage with the lights up on the fly. If she did, kudos to her, because it worked. I'm not saying anything, I'm just sayin'...

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a grassy knoll I need to survey.

That actually makes a lot of sense and she is certainly intelligent enough to use that situation to advantage. If I was an undecided woman and those idiots showed up it would certainly help me make a decision.
