Ibiza cracks down on afterhours clubbing

Early to bed in Ibiza as authorities put the squeeze on afterhours partying in 2008.

Ibizan authorities are forcing clubs to close their doors between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. under the new regulations. Authorities cite disturbances to residents and holidaymakers as the reason for the ban.

The clampdown affects clubs in the Sant Josep area such as Space, Bora Bora and DC10. San Antonio, home to Eden and Es Paradis, banned after-hours clubs some time ago.

Local authorities in Ibiza Town are also considering closing clubs between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., a move which will spell the end of afternoon raves in the area.

Vicent Ferrer, head of tourism in Sant Josep, told the Independent newspaper: "In an urban space, an after-hours club is a danger and we have to stop it." Local councilor Paquita Ribas added: "We know the clubs are attractive internationally but we want tourists and residents to live in a better way."

The bans are the latest in a series of regulations in Ibiza designed to clamp down on drug use on the island. Last year DC-10 and Bora Bora were forced to close for a month at the beginning of the season, while Amnesia was closed for two months and fined €6,000.

Bollox ....i cant be asked with afterhrs clubs now...but back in day it was the place to be in the early hrs of the next morning.

I think the whole thing is coming to an end...but it will not stop me from going to see digweed this year in space tho.

ugh. that is a bummer. but in my age 3 o'clock is the cut off going el natural. so ... yeah. would not bother one bit.

Iv only ever been twice which was the last 2 years.
Maybe my comment sounds a bit blunt, as im sure there willl still be years of clubbing to be had there but with the forced closing of the clubs last season and now this, it can only make you wonder what the future holds for the island.

Fuckers - its not even summer nd they are messing with things !

Diggers was still on the Space Terrace at 7.00 a.m. in the summer and Cox played til 8.00 a.m. inside - traditionally things start late in ibiza.

It'll spoil Renaissance too - Van M 12 til 2, then Diggers til 5 and Hernan til 7.30 a,m, was a top top night.

I said it last year and I'll say it again...wtf! All of these great places I've hard about for years getting clamped down on or closed before I can even experience them...damn.
