Hey all i am using Nero to burn all my music onto dvd's. Anyway i bought a pack of 100 dvd's and started to burn them using nero. But it kept coming up with Invalid block address. So i thought maybe its the dvd's cause they were cheaper. So i returned them and bought a pack of 50 sony. They are DVD-R dvd's by the way. Anyway when i got home i burned 3 dvd's and they worked fine. This morning when i started to burn again Invalid block address came up again. So now i am think it might be my nero or dvd burner. I have never had problems before with it. Can someone help please .. Thanks

Re: Invalid block address burning DVD
Would be interesting to know your version of Nero and the brand of your burner.
That error can occur when trying to do some overburning on a burner that didn't support it.Santa Claus inc.

Re: Invalid block address burning DVD
How old is your burner? If its throwing up all these different errors and your using different disks maybe the burner is on its way out. Maybe try cleaning the laser?Originally posted by Hoff

Re: Invalid block address burning DVD
1) what do i need to use to clean the laser?
2) i also have a laptop and it does it on there as well. Unless Nero is fucking up the disks. cause i use them on my pc first then try it on my laptop. Do i need to format the dvd's or something and if so how do i do it.Comment

Re: Invalid block address burning DVD
If they are dvd-RW or dvd+RW then they may need formating which is simply put in the drive and then right click and format. Iv never heard of a -r or +r needing to be formatted.
As for cleaning the laser, you could use the same sort of thing as you would in a cd player but some companys dont recommend doing that.
Other than that, maybe a short spray of some canned air would suffice for a clean.
Hope this helps.Originally posted by Hoff

Re: Invalid block address burning DVD
i used to use nero a long time ago and would get random shit like this all the time and it would piss me off. i would burn a disc and if it would have problems and halt at like 10%, or it would work correctly everytime. it was random and intermittent so it is something to do with the shit software i think. there is a program i use for linux called cdrecord which has been ported to windows that i NEVER have problems with. it has never burned a coaster for me and i have probably burned about 500 discs with it.
there is a version for windows but the problem is it is all command line and will take some nerd/getting used to, since it is not a point and click windows thing. but it works perfect for me.
