I have my records stored vertically, away from a heat source & my room is tops about 63 degrees Fahrenheit (~17 C)...yet it seems some are bending into a convex shape (depending how you look at them). Does anyone know what the hell could be causing this? Am I storing my records improperly?

Re: Vinyl Storage Question
Hey mate have you got them vertically on the floor or on shelves?? If on the floor than i recommend you buy or make a shelf for them. I am in the process if building one for my self. Dimensions are 180cm high by 180cm wide and the depth of 35 cm with about 35 cm distance between each shelf.Comment

Re: Vinyl Storage Question
Store them upright. Do not lay them on top of each other..Lean them up against something, keep the stack tight and don't let them lean over too much...It bends them. Try leaning about 30 records against the wall as straight up as you can get them. Them make another stack...Unless you have shelving, this is what I would do.Comment

Re: Vinyl Storage Question
toss em in a bin and place them around the furnace. Periodically fan them with a hair dryer at close range. That will keep them nice and limbermixes: www.waxdj.com/miroslavComment

Re: Vinyl Storage Question
check the humidity in your storage area, and you might need a dehumidifyer. or there are 6th dimensional gremlins sabotaging your mixing career, maybe a little of bothComment

Re: Vinyl Storage Question
just found this on Wiki....
there are a few really good ideas about preserving your vinyl...such as getting rid of the plastic covers on the record sleeves. Also getting rid of the paper sleeve that goes with the record into the casing as it tends to degrade and gets oils and whatnot into the vinyl record.
I'm really trying to learn more about vinyl lately.Comment

Re: Vinyl Storage Question
Thx for the info man. Sorry I didn't post pics of my storage method but I don't have a camera; I do keep my records as vertical as possible like that guide says though, might be doing something else wrong though.Comment
