    Ipod Backup

I have been looking for a decent freeware Ipod backup software.
Whether for backing up my ipod if the worst happens or copy songs off it on to another computer. Ihavent had much luck and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

    Thanks

These are free. I use mainly Podplayer, but Foola is suppose to be a complete itunes replacement that runs off your iPod. I have it in my iPod as well but sledom use it. Podplayer has the same song-export function.

But I haven't come across something that will make a complete backup that lets you restore your iPod to its pre-fuckedup state with all songs and database intact. I wouldn't mind something like that, or something that clones an old iPod to a new one (my current 'problem')

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

activate "View Hidden Files or Folders", connect IPod to PC, navigate to "Music" folder, Ctrcl C + Ctrl V onto your local PC.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

Doesn't that copy all your files out without their proper names? You'll be left with a whole bunch of randomly named mp3s that're only recognisable in an mp3 player.

yea that is the biggest drawback of backing up that way. But it doesnt change the ID3 tags.

However if you use a regular mp3 backup program, will that change the file name to match the ID3 tag when you back up your tracks?

Podplayer does. (I'm assuming Foola does too) You can format it using tags to get the filenames to appear as you want them. Eg. # - $a - $t for 01 - artist - track name. The mlipod plugin for Winamp does the same thing as well when extracting music off the iPod.
