Go!Zilla takes on a new year with some great memories and exciting future plans. Last year saw their ‘Concert Raves’ move to a new bi-monthly purpose-built live space of Cargo. They invited guests to share their concept from far afield and close to home that had underground status and a raw energy to share with their unique crowd. Each episode generated a journey from the stage to the dancefloor combining DJ and live sets and offering a break from the bleak present club scene.
January brings the UK debut of The Mole who has now burrowed his way into the techno music elite. From his early days within the secular scene of Montreal, performances at Mutek followed as well as collaborations with Mathew Jonson and his Cobblestone Jazz partners, releases on Wagon Repair and Musique Risquee. A brand new live set and a first on these shores make for a very exciting prospect next Saturday. On the phenomenal, often overlooked and undiscovered warm house soundsystem of Cargo, this is a real treat for music fans of all persuasions..
Also Gramme, who were signed to Trevor Jackson's Output Recordings, have just reformed, and we've managed to persuade them to come and play for us. They were one of the first bands to rekindle the Post-Punk sound way before it came back in vogue and feature one of the best drummer's in London, our pal, Leo Taylor. Expect a big come back.
We also welcome the hyped Thecocknbullkid, a young female singer-songwriter and producer who's sound has been compared to the love-child of Morissey and Neneh Cherry - get down early to check her out.
Simon Lee of Faze Action is on decks duty as one of London's finest purveyors of Disco, with his 'In The Trees' being one of the most timeless pieces of music released on Nuphonic over 10 years ago. Expect him to be filling the night with an eclectic mix of jazz, disco, funk, soul and boogie action. Our resident James Priestley, the man behind the infamous secretsundaze parties, has once again proved his abilities to stage successful events with Go!Zilla and each event is also a chance to see his talents as an artist as he plays his own blend of deep and driving house and techno.
