Re: Vista: Get ready for the big one
I agree with that point, but the GUI is just an interface engine, totally different from what the OS is.
Brad I'm 100% with you on that the OSX is and will always remain superior to anything Windows (as long as they are *Nix, which in my opinion will be the most stable line for years to come) but despite its shittiness (of which it has a few), there are a few evolved benefits of the popularity of Microsoft which are very hard to ignore today.www.mjwebhosting.com

Re: Vista: Get ready for the big one
Also am very successful at getting dx9/10 games running on it too. Guild wars runs at 101 fps, doom 3 at 90 fps.
I for one do not like Vista for two reasons, the security model is flawed, two they never addressed the virtual memory issue in the SP1 update which will kill a machine if you leave it on for more than 36 hours. Also doing backups of items in Vista is a nightmare since they put some crap backup utility on there that is just a watered down version of NTBackup with XP Pro.
Also most major financial and technical firms have snubbed Vista, so far they have only broken into the home market. The sailors of the United States Navy are among the most disciplined, devoted, and well-trained fighting men the world has ever known. They drink gasoline and piss fire, The spit bullets and shit bombs, and will swim across the ocean with a knife in their teeth just for the chance to carve up those that threaten their homeland.Comment

Same here, apart from an occasion or two when I got a blue screen. Comparing Vista to ME is plain bollox imo.Comment

Re: Vista: Get ready for the big one
Don't forget all of the financial programs, applications, etc. There just isn't the software that people need to do their job with something other than Windows.Comment

Re: Vista: Get ready for the big one
Turns out my Vista problems wasn't Vista after all...
SmartFTP issue - http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/...702#post563702
And all of a sudden my USB problem has gone too.
Of course it did prompt me to upgrade to SP1 which I did.www.mjwebhosting.com

Re: Vista: Get ready for the big one
The Vista is the biggest shit i have ever used. That`s my opinion. The 80 % of the programs i couldn`t use. I stay with the XP.Comment

Re: Vista: Get ready for the big one
the only problem that i've had with vista is finding drivers for alot of shit that i already have. "ask not what vista can do for you, but what you can buy for vista!" that and i've found that it's much slower. considering going to linux, actually dl'ing now.Comment

Re: Vista: Get ready for the big one
^ ^ That's not really the fault of Vista/Microsoft though. Third party companies feel that they will not profit on making the drivers to support their older gear so they don't.Comment
