really pleased with the results yesterday as an Obama supporter. I look at it like this:
Leading up to yesterday, Clinton had commanding leads in almost all of the Super Tuesday states. At the end of it all, Obama can claim the following:
1. Won in Connecticut, which because of its proximity to NY is considered Clinton Country, and closed the gap in NY and NJ.
2. Won a bunch of states that he was not expected to win
3. Won bellwether state Missouri
4. Won more states total
Overall, Obama exceeded expectations.
Conversely, if you look back before Iowa, Super Tuesday was supposed to be Clinton's coronation by virtue of her running a "national campaign." That obviously did not happen, and of the many unexpected things that happened on Tuesday, did any of them break in her favor? Is there anything she can point to and hang her hat on as evidence that momentum is in her favor?
If I was her, I'd be really concerned right now, because we're heading into a part of the primary/caucus schedule that strongly favors Obama. I guess we'll get to see just what this vaunted Clinton machine can do...
