    Super Tuesday Results

really pleased with the results yesterday as an Obama supporter. I look at it like this:

Leading up to yesterday, Clinton had commanding leads in almost all of the Super Tuesday states. At the end of it all, Obama can claim the following:

    1. Won in Connecticut, which because of its proximity to NY is considered Clinton Country, and closed the gap in NY and NJ.
    2. Won a bunch of states that he was not expected to win
    3. Won bellwether state Missouri
    4. Won more states total

    Overall, Obama exceeded expectations.

Conversely, if you look back before Iowa, Super Tuesday was supposed to be Clinton's coronation by virtue of her running a "national campaign." That obviously did not happen, and of the many unexpected things that happened on Tuesday, did any of them break in her favor? Is there anything she can point to and hang her hat on as evidence that momentum is in her favor?

If I was her, I'd be really concerned right now, because we're heading into a part of the primary/caucus schedule that strongly favors Obama. I guess we'll get to see just what this vaunted Clinton machine can do...

sweet. i was waiting for your analysis this morning. wasn't quite sure what to make of the results since they were so close.

we watched the results come in for a few hours, but going back and forth between msnbc and cnn and listening to those people break it down play by play really gets numbing after awhile. gave up on it and went to bed. chris matthews, hey fella, you don't have to yell at me.

Yeah, it is that. I watched it at the Moolah at that watch party, so my time was split between talking with people, sipping wine, and glancing up to see what the commotion was when the crowd would react to the results. Much, much more interesting way to take in the results.

I can't see Obama picking Hillary as a running mate, and I can't see her accepting it if it were offered. She is antithetical to his entire message -- if she were his running mate, he'd come off looking like a hypocrite, IMO. I'd like to see him pick Bloomberg -- fits with his message, and would be a good VP candidate, besides...

If she gets the nod, though, I could see her picking him as a running mate. He could accept that without looking like a putz, because he'd no longer be promoting his own message, he'd be promoting hers, which wouldn't be inconsistent with having him on the ticket.

^ i dont know man. if you look at their last debate and the way theyve been coming out lately it's been less criticizing each other and more unifying their message as democrats against the republicans... i know scary as fuck to have both of them running... but all this is my op

that's because they're vying for Edwards' voters. Remember that nice guy who never got caught up in the silly-slap-fest?

It was a goddamn show dude.

^ if they are trying to vye for votes i would think obama would stick to his game plan. from what i've seen and toasty's run down he's already done exceedingly better than predicted.

I dont see either Obama or Hillary agreeing to be each others VP.
More due to ego than policy.

However I think the Bill factor would also be a problem. If Obama was president Bill would try and sway things and if Obama were VP - he would be in a non existent job! (slight exaggeration but you see my point)

i think what would be an intersting twist is if McCain, facing what seems to be an outpouring of votes from blacks, chose J.C. Watts as his vice president.
