    Re: Crap Towns

Here in Northern Virginia, manassas has always been frowned upon. But I like to call it Manasshole. It's only proper.

The criteria isn't always so obvious...

Complaints about the city include playwright Tom Stoppard?s quote that Edinburgh was the "Reykjavik of the south", and the observation it has "pockets of poverty and desperation deep enough to make your eyes bleed".

It is described as having cold buildings and cold people, while one person claimed it had "the UK?s most psychotic public transport employees".

"Only in Edinburgh have I seen a bus driver pull out in front of an elderly woman clutching a white stick with the intention of making an example of her," the anonymous contributor writes.

Another "endorsement" contrasts the "charming cosmopolitan wonderland" of the Festival with the "freezing, seething drug den cleaved through with running rivers of p*****-up students" seen in the city for the rest of the year. "Ned culture" is mentioned, and both Muirhouse and Craigmillar are flagged up as the less tourist-friendly face of the city.
