Re: GeForce 9 series roadmap revealed!
I will get the GTX I guess when I build my new PC around May. SLI or the GX2 which is also like having 2 cards (but at slightly slower CPU clock rate) is no option. I heard too much bad reports about driver issues and too many games where only one card is supported..beta testing for 600 dollar cards is a bit too much imo.
The only thing I do not understand is why the 9 series will still not support DirectX10.1 which will be part of the Service pack 1 for Vista. Not that it would really matter because Vista is still slow with Games and they use DX10 features not by full extend so far so I doubt before Mid 2009 DX10.1 will play any role. If Vista continues to sell so badly, I wonder if pressure from developpers will be raised because it's ridiculous to preserve the latest technolgies for PC gaming to an OS which is not accepted from the market. I was pretty confident that I will install Vista Ultimate on the new PC but I have read yesterday that the 479 patches that are involved with SP 1 will clear many bugs and make the system respond and work faster but no improvement of the performance side of things for Games. So unless this does not change and DX10 has no several killer games which push the standards forward there is just no need to switch so I am considering installing XP Pro on the new PC as well. -
