James Zabiela and Deamau5 in SF

So tonight i went to Ruby Skye, in San Francisco, to see Zabiela and Deadmau5. I have seen Zabs many times and always been very pleased (which is why i went tongiht). I didn't find out until alter that Deadmau5 was playing as well. I wasn't sure if he was going to do some sort of pseudo - live production thing, or more towards djing. But he had a macbook pro up and some gear...and it seemed it was somewhere in between standard dj-ing and the stuff that junkie xl does (playing his prerecorded music and controlling a single knob for high pass filter cutoff).

My friend with me is more into trance (i....i know..) and wanted to leave after 20 minute of deadmau5. I wasn't sure what kind of stuff he would play, actually, but it was his harder tech-ier stuff.

So we went to the cliff hotel for about an hour in between, had a few drinks, than walked back to ruby skye just about when zabiela was starting again. I saw about the first 30 minutes of his set which was great as usual, lost of like....sampling the music and creating mini breakdowns by shortening the sample that he was taking...if that makes sense. It was good. way too many guys at the club. The sound system there is awesome, but i wish the place was a bit bigger with more areas to chill out.

OK that's it for my review.

Ruby Skye can get a bit crowded on the floor
the bar can be tough to get to but the few times
I have been there the crowd was havin it, granted
Digweed was playing both times. JZ has a sound you either
really like or cannot figure out. All the sampling and tweeks
                  really develop the tracks.

yeah, we get it, using a 5 for an s, really genius.. how about putting a bit creativity into your music you bellend, lol

seriously though, a lot of his music sounds the same.. its all well and good having a "formula" that works, but dont be shy mate, you can stry away from it a bit
