question/request, regarding US hisotry and ww2.

im trying to get together some information regarding the medeterrean operations of the end of ww2, specifically regarding the invasion of sicily, and later, the normandy invasion.

bascially IM TRYING TO get info together on my late grandfather and his service on the USS Brooklyn during the end of ww2, as my brother and i are planning on taking dad over there and seeing where his ship was and where it fought.

im not looking for essays, just info, i.e. web site direction, books, etc etc.

this may not be what you need but "the war" that aired on pbs earlier this year was fucking incredible.

Naval logs are for a commisioned ships activities are all stored at the Naval historical center. You could contact them to find out detailed information on your grandad's boat. If not, they could probably help you find what you are looking for.
