i just practically ate 'the hitchiker's guide to the galaxy', and its hilarious...
now i have to read the follow up books
very fucking funny
Good call! Douglas Adams is hilarious. All five of those Hitchiker books are amazing. I heard they've been trying to make it into a movie with Jim Carey as Zaphod for a while now ... but with his death its been complicated. They already did a BBC TV series on it in the 80's that was absolutely horrible, but in a funny way. Has anyone else seen it? The special effects are rediculous, but good for a laugh. The Dirk Gently book series he does is good as well.
I recently read "Nine Stories" by J.D. Salinger and really enjoyed it. "Franny and Zooey" and "Raise the High roofbeam, Carpenters" by him are also really good ... but a little weird. They continue the from the short story of a prodigy family that was in "nine stories". Really interesting though.
guys i know you old established members are slating people for bringing back to life old threads but this one in my humble opinion should always be bubbling near the top.
currently i am reading heart shaped box by joe hill (son of the great stephen king)
"Working like a wizard he doesn't jump around much or react much to what he is playing but the place is going nuts"

"Working like a wizard he doesn't jump around much or react much to what he is playing but the place is going nuts"
yeah the stuff with the sherrif was a bit odd. im glad they didnt incorporate that much of his life story in the movie. however, i would have been interested to see the part with the female hitcher in the movie, but i guess the coen bros felt it wasnt relevant to the film. i still enjoyed both a lot.
the road was a great book. really looking forward to the movie this year w/ viggo mortenson.
Started Tom Wolfe's "A man in Full" at Christmas - its really good but I don't seem to get that much of a chance to read (probably because of the internet !!).
