    new Portishead single online - Machine Gun

    i hope the rest of the new cd isnt like this.

    this is almost too harsh on my ears for my tastes. i could tell their last cd had a bit rougher tunes on it than dummy ever did, but then it had great mellow tunes like western eyes and humming. hopefully alot of it will be different or i am going to be disappointed, and i have been waiting for new music from one of my fav bands for a long time.

                                  not great. its no 'dummy'. there are a couple of memorable tunes, but alot of it sounds a bit hollow, and the jarring theme carries through a several tracks. very little melody, just beth singing over a beat with minimal instrumentation. there are so many ways here talents could be better used...

                                      bah that blows. the whole reason i got into them was because they were mellow and the great guitar and strings. if alot of this is missing i bet im not going to like it

                                              i think they played this on that live set that was posted recently ... didn't like it live but i think the album version is much better
