    Online Currency Besides Credit Cards?

    Hello All.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but is anyone aware of any other form of online currency besides credit card and paypal?

As much as I would love to support all of these artists that I love, it's just near impossible for me to buy vinyl and CD's anymore, and would love to purchase digital music online via the new wave of digital music stores online.

My question is though, is there any other way of paying for these tracks online besides a credit card? Cuz I don't have one, and would love to purchase tracks online, but cannot because I don't own a credit card??

Anyway, like I said, maybe I just havent looked in all the right places, but I'm starting to feel bad for downloading these tracks off of peer-2-peer networks, and would love to buy them!!

    Any help appreciated.

Bite the bullet and get a credit card mate. You can get ones that leeches off your savings account and isn't really a credit card at all except in the fact that you can use the number to buy stuff online and at other physical stores.

Look into this option, you don't need a credit check to get one of these because if you don't have the money in your bank account you can't buy stuff. I doesn't work like a normal credit card.

^^^they're called debit cards, and yea, see if your bank offers them. They basically connect to your checking or savings account and work on the idea of a credit card (usually distributed or associated with Visa, Mastercard, etc.)...when used though, the money comes right out of your account and if you don't have the $$$, you obviously can't use it.

Don't get a credit card unless you absolutely need one. They are way too tempting. Hey, I'm 25 and have never had one...and before anyone asks, my credit rating kicks ass

peter, a lot of banks offer credit cards too (not just debit cards). You should get a credit card through your bank and start building credit. if your bank is even remotely technologically advanced, you can just transfer money from your checking account to your credit card online, and still have the credit report that you'll need for when you need it. I never wanted any credit cards either, but they're important for building credit... and when you can pay them with the click of a button on your bank's website, there's no reason not to get one.

The debit cards are a nice option too, but they don't build credit. Go for a credit card if you bank offers one. When you get a bill in the mail, just log online and pay that way. It's what I do with one of my credit cards.

^^^ Like picklemonkey said. Getting a credit card to build credit is a great idea.

Another option though is to go to Safeway and they sell these credit cards you can purchase for certian amounts (much like gift cards). So you'll be able to make those web purchases.

FM- I'm not sure how your credit score can be that great if you don't have much credit to begin with. Most lenders want to see you have a card or two and are looking for you to be responsible with it. Last time I checked mine was 760 and the only reason it wasn't a perfect 800(?) was because I didn't have long enough credit history. I highly recommend applying for a few cards and if you can't dicipline yourself from not using them just destroy them when you receive them. That way you have an account in good standing but don't have the card to be able to spend.
The other advantage is that if you happen to lose your job you still have credit accounts you can use to get by on. However if you lose your job and then apply for a CC, your going to get denied.

one of my buddies is a home loan officer, and he told me the quickest way to get near 800 is by getting two credit cards, putting activity on both every month, and not letting balances transfer over. The more accounts you have with activity, the better you'll be. School or car loans help out a lot too.

IMO, anybody that's sketchy about getting a credit card is the perfect person to have one. If you don't want one it's usually because you don't want to get into debt... which means you know how to manage your money. Don't let a credit card scare you dude, go get one and use it for your everyday shit. If you're already buying food and gas, why not let it build your credit and get frequent flier miles in the process?
