Tigerhook presents Disciples of Smoke - Drifting Mindz/The Groundshaker
A. Drifting Mindz
B. The Groundshaker
C. The Groundshaker (Randall Jones Remix)
Release date: 20th of March (beatport excl. pre-release)
Label: Mynt Music 1206
Release Info:
The infamous Tigerhook crew is based in Philadelphia and consists of several dj’s and producers who work together in any kind of combination to produce records under the Tigerhook moniker. People like Randall Jones, Mynt Music’s founder and owner, Deep C., Hito and Chris Udoh are members and two of them, Randall Jones and Hito, now come with a new fresh release under their Disciples of Smoke guise. Expect deep and techy atmospheres and melodies as well as dirty drums and basslines. A sound also popular with labels like Hooj, Saw Recordings and End Recordings as they all released Tigerhook productions in the past.
First up is the much sought after “Drifting Mindz”. It first featured on Hernan Cattaneo’s “The Masters Series Vol. 2” on Renaissance, but is now finally available exclusively on Mynt Music. A deep, energetic kick starts off this tune while a dirty, groovy bassline enters the scene to make things even shakier. An electric guitar adds a trademark sound to the track while a dark male voice talks about his drifting mind. Dark and atmospheric progressive with a serious dancefloor impact is what “Drifting Mindz” is all about.
“The Groundshaker” could seriously shake some grounds in clubs all over the world. Another one for lovers of the darker sound too. Originally the track appeared in a MTV show called “Final Fu Reality Kungfu Show”, but the heavenly eastern influenced was too short to be club friendly. Luckily this headbanging tribalistic type of tune with dark vocals and kungfu snippets sees a full length version in the end. Already a favourite with Lee Burridge and Worship Soundsystem...
To complete the release label boss Randall Jones turns “The Groundshaker” into a low slung, floor thumping, techy and funky gem. The vocal is even darker and so are the drums. More bouncy than the original this one should appeal to all hip shakers and leg twisters.
