Stepping up to the plate for the 19th excursion of this quintessential
compilation series for 'after hours grooving' is our very own techno
legend Carl Cox.
Having grown up with the sound of soul in his blood, hijacking his
folks' Booker T and the MGs, Aretha Franklin and even Elvis 45s to get
his family moving, he has now established himself as a true legend in
his own right at the forefront of dance music. His exclusive selection
for Back To Mine, recorded live in the summer of '04 at Caf? Mambo in
Ibiza, takes in this full spectrum of influences and personal
favourites, as well as showcasing one of his own productions, the
mesmeric Mission (Give Me Your Love).
This selection, seamlessly mixed where the beats allow it, takes in
the disco-heavy influences that form the roots of his musical career,
delving a little further out of the norm for The Style Council's
classic Long Hot Summer and even offering a dose of original RnB
supergroup Jodeci in the form of You Got It.
Cox's own production Mission (Give Me Your Love) from his forthcoming
album The Second Sign provides a taste of what to expect from him in
the coming months, and helps close the album along with two majestic
cuts from 808 State and Coco Steele and Lovebomb.
