For me this album is one of the definitve soundtracks to my life, and has been since I first heard it all those years ago. It sits alongside Leftfields 'Leftism' and Massive's 'Blue Lines' in its status as a benchmark for electronic music when it was released, achieving cult status in drum 'n bass circles and beyond. It seems as though every track has been carefully selected at great pains to ensure the quality never lets up at any given point, and it's one of those albums where everyone has their own favourite track rather than there being one stand-out anthem that everyone adores.
The first disc is an unmixed studio selection, each track a classic in its own right. From Bukem's seminal 'Demon's Theme' through PFM's beautiful 'Danny's Song' (a tribute to LTJ Bukem) and finishing up with Bukem's 'Horizons' (with every other song in between on a par with these), it is just purely a joy to listen to, and you'll find yourself not wanting to skip tracks along the way!
Disc two is a mixed set from the man himself, LTJ Bukem. I won't bother to break down this cd into its tracks, just trust me that it is a journey that everyone should take. It's so good that even near the end, when one of the tracks begins to jump (a real vinyl mix here folks) instead of detracting from the quality of the mix, it just serves to enhance it and give it that raw, underground quality not to be found on any mix cd released today.
To put into a simple sentence, this is one of the finest albums ever created in my eyes, and will be til the end of time. Astounding."
Well going by what he said this sounds like a must have.. Sounds like a drum and Bass Equivalent of Prog's Nothern Exposure.. Will get it during the week. cheers for the info. Any others??Comment

Re: I am really getting into Drum & Bass
I need to definitely buy some of those, do you have any that stand out that I should check out first, I only have the disc I mentioned above (just put it on too...ahh still good stuff). Plus I got it in the cut out bin at one of those crappy Karma records barely used for like $4!
Also alot of people cite this as a classic:
Roni Size - New Forms
Can't say I listen to it as much as the Bukem disc above but many still like it a bunch.Comment

Re: I am really getting into Drum & Bass
Adam F - Circles should be the first album you should buy. I would follow up with Photek's first album (which I can't spell), and then any LTJ bukem cd you canfind.
I DEFO second resonantor's Roni Size "new forms" cd.you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky
it's RA. they'd blow their load all over some stupid 20 minute loop of a snare if it had a quirky flange setting. - Tiddles

Re: I am really getting into Drum & Bass
drum'n'bass is kool, i think the height of its popularity, round 98-02 in my area was when all the sick tracks came out. i saw it loose momentum bigtime after that... there's still kool stuff being put out, but it was interesting to see that it kinda died down. I always liked the music, but saw it coming that i'd grow out of it so i always stuck to buying house vinyls cause i knew i would never grow out of that. Sven Vath was amazing...he played a god damn killer set...ended up going to that and came to at like 10 am in some whore house in south Amsterdam...no idea how I ended up there...friday was a bit of a blur got really drunk and visited several parties can't remember a whole lot to be honest hehe...saturday was probably the best day that I recall...started up in the nearest coffee shop and going from party to party...beautiful woman, beer and weed...finished the night by taking some shrooms and listening to an amazing elke kleijn set...sunday...i met a nice girl who worked at one of the coffee shops and ended up talking to her for like 6 hours...was supposed to meet her at some DnB party...but instead went for a steak and walked around red light district bars drinking and smoking...monday took it easy went to a coffee shop and took a taxi to airport....
All in all...I think I will be going back there some time soonOriginally posted by IlluminateLet me get this straight.
So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:
1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...
