Sprint is in a bad way. They recent took a writedown of almost $30 million -- and the market capitalization is only $25M. Details on the whole situation here:

On the one hand, it concerns me. On the other hand, I can't see Sprint just going dark, even if things do continue to head south. Plus, they do have a new CEo who is supposed to turn things around.

It is pumping a lot of money into marketing this Instinct phone -- I've heard numbers between $100M-$150M for the launch, well more than it's spent on anything else -- and is clearly looking to this to be its savior. If it does well, it could be a real turn-around. If not, well, you know...

they refer to it as an "iPhone competitor."

              Pros vs iPhone
              Faster data network
GPS-enabled (iPhones use a GPS workaround)
              Haptic feedback

              Cons v iPhone
              Smaller screen
Lacks iPhone touch navigation (i.e., pinch zooming, etc.)
              No wireless connection

Also, not sure if it can play regular mp3s, or if it relies upon the Sprint Music store for tunes.

The faster network (and the fact that it would actually work in my house) is the big draw for me -- iPhones over the ATT network can be pretty slow. I've seen an iPhone do its version of GPS, and it does it pretty well, so that's not a big deal. I guess I'd like it to have a wireless connection, but running on the EV DO Rev A network should be plenty fast for most anything I'd be doing anyway.

Smartass! I remember checking my texts while in a cab, and after that, no idea where it went. That's why when I go out I never bring a purse or cell phone 'cause I'm a drunk who loses things, but I needed it in Miami to keep in contact with peeps.
Awww...I didn't mean A holes, as in "A holes"...I meant it like, as in, my friends....
