    Deep Space Celebrates 5th Anniversary: François K + Special Guest DJ Spooky -April 14

    Deep Space, an adventure into future dub, spacey vibes, and abstract grooves featuring resident DJ François K. live on the mixing board celebrates its 5th Anniversary with special guest DJ Spooky, April 14, 2008. The award-winning weekly dub-inspired party has won accolades and the hearts of an international audience. Countless guest artists have collaborated with Deep Space’s resident DJ, François K. Guest artists have all put together signature “Deep Space” sets which have become the hallmark of the party.

    Since the party’s launch in April, 2003, Deep Space has presented a great range of guest artists. A partial list includes Mutabaruka, the NY debut of Rhythm & Sound with vocalists from Wackie’s; NY debut of Germany’s ÂME; Meshell Ndegeocello with Jahi Sundance Lake and jazz saxophonist Oliver Lake; Derrick May; Stacey Pullen; Danny Krivit; Joaquin “Joe” Claussell in a multi event collaboration titled “Double Journey”; Juan Atkins; Carl Craig; Sunshine Jones (Dubtribe); dancing by Urban Tap with tap rhythms remixed by François K.; Theo Parrish; dubstep innovators DMZ, Kode 9, D1, Digital Mystiks; Mangue Beat innovator OTTO with Afro Brazilian icon Carlinhos Brown; Aril Brikha; Ron Trent;; Quiet Village; Rekid; King Britt; Ursula Rucker; Pete Lawrence; Voom Voom; DJ Olive, Mr. Scurff, dZihan & Kamien; Boozoo Bajou; dj Harvey; and Henrik Schwartz.

    Deep Space has been presented abroad at the Big Chill Festival (UK), Plastic People (UK), TDK Cross Central Festival (UK), SONAR Festival ,throughout Japan, France, Germany, Denmark, and the U.S. In 2004 Deep Space was nominated for “Best Club Night” by the internationally televised “DanceStar USA” awards. In 2005 & 2006 François K. won “Best Resident DJ Award” at the Club World Awards . Deep Space was named “Best Party 2004” in Time Out New York. Deep Space was nominated for “Best Party,” at the Club World Awards 2006 and 2007. New York Magazine featured Deep Space in the “Best of New York 2006” issue. In 2005 Deep Space NYC Vol. 1, a compilation mixed by François K., was released on Wave Music’s imprint Deep Space Media to critical acclaim.

      Sven Vath was amazing...he played a god damn killer set...ended up going to that and came to at like 10 am in some whore house in south Amsterdam...no idea how I ended up there...friday was a bit of a blur got really drunk and visited several parties can't remember a whole lot to be honest hehe...saturday was probably the best day that I recall...started up in the nearest coffee shop and going from party to party...beautiful woman, beer and weed...finished the night by taking some shrooms and listening to an amazing elke kleijn set...sunday...i met a nice girl who worked at one of the coffee shops and ended up talking to her for like 6 hours...was supposed to meet her at some DnB party...but instead went for a steak and walked around red light district bars drinking and smoking...monday took it easy went to a coffee shop and took a taxi to airport....

      All in all...I think I will be going back there some time soon
