Applescal - Brown Shoes / Modulate At Last
1. Brown Shoes
2. Modulate At Last

Release date: 3rd of April (beatport excl. pre-release)
Label: Deep Focus 029
Release Info:
Youngster Pascal Terstappen is better known as Applescal. Extremely talented this Amsterdam based producer takes giant leaps most producers can only dream of. Although he has a long way before him he achieved big things in only a few months. Being picked up by Manual Music and Groovecollection Records his music instantly got big with renowned dj’s like Anthony Pappa and Hernan Cattaneo. And now with the summer coming he’s already being booked for Holland’s famous dance festival “Dance Valley”. Now eat that... Back to the music though, here’s his latest offering on the Deep Focus imprint.
“Brown Shoes” is Applescal’s own personal favourite we were told. A grumbling bassline starts off in the background while the Nathan Fake-ish percs and beats take us by the hand. As the bassline swells things get nastier with high note sweeps and strings. The break is creepy yet a lust for the listener’s ear. “Brown Shoes” is a pure dancefloor and crowd pleaser.
Applescal takes a very different approach with “Modulate At Last”. The tempo is much lower and a dreamy piano-like melody floats around the track as to take you into higher spheres. Some edgy and techy sounds join the scene to “modulate things at last”. Blissful and dreamy and a perfect track to fit in earlier on in the night.
DJ Support:
Anthony Pappa: This kid is good and has talent. Both tracks are cool. I prefer "Brown Shoes" from the 2 tracks and l will play it out.
Flash Brothers: Brown Shoes is interesting techno / Tech house tune, Modulate at last - is a very nice melodic chilled tune.
Steve Parry: Modulate at last is rather cool
Stian Klo: cool quirky stuff from this guy ! will play
Deep C: Both songs are absolutely brilliant! I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff and will play both for a long time. 10/10
