I just saw a really good movie about the Civil War called Gods and Generals. It's really long, but worth it.

Not sure if I've posted in this thread before.... but the one that comes to mind now is Saving Private Ryan.. I loved that movie and also the soundtrack was fantastic...

I rarely watch war movies anymore.... too much sadness..

All of you that think band of brothers is good need to watch a much better Russian series called "Strafbat" about a USSR squad of man which was made up of prisoners and deserters. They were basically used as suicide squads from clearing up mine fields to being human shields and diversions and they were shot if they retreated.

There is no grandiose portrayal of war and there is no "this is what happened to the Jews" episode which really got on my nerves. I honestly thought band of brothers was pathetic because I had seen this before hand. Its like comparing a summer vacation on Hawaii with going to Afghanistan.

Anyway have a watch and tell me I am wrong.
