    Kevin Saunderson

So having only really got into this dj after his RA podcast. I found my self bopping down on Saturday night till 6am.

i was absolutely hammered, but had a really good time. Good life new sounded so damn good!!!

wicked set. hats off to big Kev, who manged to escape me as i ran after him once he'd finished playing.

i have very little idea of what happened. but man was i fucked on sunday. no pics, just some very hazy memories.

      ^ goldie!

great tune, but not right for his sort of music.

it was dark when oakie used to drop it.

Probably going against the grain here, but I find a lot of Detroit DJs losing it. Not creating new sounds nor moving with the times. I'm sure they're fun to listen to, but as a genre of music, seems to be stagnating to me. Then again I'm no expert.

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

Depends on which detroit djs you're talking about.

old guard like mills, saunderson - yes, losing it. mills closing set at festival last year was sooo bad. although stacey pullen still is still killing it. he was always my fav.

these detroit djs tho - seth troxler, lee curtiss, ryan elliott, ryan crosson, mike huckaby - awesome.

having just seen pullen and saunderson on a roof party during wmc, i gotta say i was not impressed with saunderson at all. some decent tracks here and there, immediately followed by complete shite tracks. he was all over the place.

pullen, however, was excellent. mixing wasn't always 100% but his track selection was definitely on point. he wasn't really playing techno, per se, but the chunky funk house he was droppin was certainly a nice flavor for watching the sun go down.

lol, well, its better then him actually talking on the phone.. imagine that.. "I CAN'T HEAR YOU I'M MIXING BEATS YOU FUCK!"

anyways, I thought that was funny when I saw it on RA aswell.

So, on the mix side of things, I didnt enjoy the RA podcast much, not much sound that really drew my attention.. I totatally agree with the above that the new detroit guys are really bringing a whole slew of great tracks and innovations out of detroit.. (elliot, troxler)

i think this was mixed on Vinyl too because some parts were spotty in mixing, but it could also be his style, up and down on the fader action..
