Just want to commence James on another brilliant set delivered last night @ Blast. Been a while since I was really feelin' a set like that. My second time and definately can't wait for my next fix.
His essential mix with the chronological samples from Vanilla Sky was superb. He sampled Vanilla Sky, an idea so good it should have been mine! The man has a hefty career ahead of him, and I just can't wait until he has the opportunity to promote his own parties in a Steve Lawler: lights out fashion. I first saw James at Nerve during WMC2004, he followed Lee Burridge and needless to say, the music was wacky. I'm not sure if the crowd was just tired because this show was on the tail-end of WMC or not; the vibe just wasn't there. When I saw James at Simon's in Gainesville, the starburst eating mixmaster OWNED!
"He was always late on principle, his principle being that punctuality is the thief of time."
^^ If i hadn`t seen the guy two weeks ago i would have agreed with ya there Chem but i`ve got to say he blew me away. Outstanding is the only word i could use to describe him that night. I originaly went to see Lawlwer at the same club (The Circus, Liverpool) but he bored me to tears so i swappeed rooms to see JZ and what a good move it was. I`m not one for his sets on slsk and ms but seeing him live was completely different.
i wanted to go to that show, really bad... just couldn't make the trip... i somehow everytime get way too drunk and stay way too late... and then pay for it dearly the next day... had to pass on this one... what was the turnout like? i thought last sunday when desyn was there he woulda pulled more people... ahh well.
