Paying TAXES when U didnt know you have any income........

was at the parents house this weekend and saw some tax papers laying around and apparently I owed some taxes (I have income, but I dont know what it is or how much it is).

is there any way I can see what assets/income I have like on a tax records printout or something ???

Do you own any stock that pays dividends? Any investments at all? If you're in the US I'm not sure what kind of tax papers you could be referring to as the IRS doesn't typically send you notices that you owe taxes unless it's for years past.

i thought it was IRS but I am not sure.......as far as i know, I dont own any stocks or investments and the ammount of taxes i owed was a decent ammount.

What year is it for? 2004? 2003? Have you ever earned income? If you have earned income in the past did you file yourself? Did your parents file for you? Did you use an accountant?

It could also be a SSN mixup so I would contact the IRS to make sure (if they are IRS documents)...they're always friendly and willing to help in that office!

PS if you work you have an income obviously...unless you've been paid under the table all this time...which means you typically do have to file a tax report of some kind.

I must have some investments, bonds, or inheritences that my parents have not told me about and when i asked them they wont tell me what i may have !

My sister's boyfriend recently applied for college, and needed his parents' Income Tax information for the application. She refused to give it to him, and when he finally got it he found out that his parents have 1+ million dollars! He grew up his whole life thinking he was low-average middle class, but it turned out his parents were hiding it from him. (and just about everybody else)

She's pregnant right now... hopefully the kid won't starve with those grandparents
