My external Hitachi Deskstar 250GB was working fine last night, powered it down, and it is now DEAD. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH HARD DISKS?!?!?!?!

And johns was just asking me about backing up music on his. OMFG. FUCK! FUCK!!!!!!!!

you probably right mate... hard drives just freaked out..
my hard drive is gone aswell.. yesterday it was asking for a fuckin password, today only thing i can see is a screen saying "operating system not found"

I lost a 500 Gigs drive last week with about 4000 sets on it with no backup i was in the process of copying them to another drive. Now i have to look at data recovery if i want what was on there.

Mine's completely DEAD man, it's not even spinning. I don't think there's any hope of data recovery. WTF man ... I've never had hdds die on me so frequently till the past couple of years. The rate of failure is going up proportionately with the storage space. FUCK!

And I was just using this drive for some heavy I/O, reformatting it and backing up files on to it!

This is like seeing some fit guy on the treadmill drop dead from a heart attack! FUCK!

Man I am fucking traumatised, FUCK.

OHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO.. Feather we were talking about it last nite. Sorry to hear that m8. Damn it that is tough. I don't know what i would do if mine crashed. Looks like i am going to have to back up everything. I am gonna get 100 blank dvd's and burn them on to disks. Sorry to hear Feather Hope it gets sorted for ya

yes, it feels like getting your heart ripped out (happened to me before) but there's hope! i helped someone on a local edm forum recover data from his hard drive.

That software has saved me from several corruptions/crashes over the years whereas I ended up losing just a minimal amount of data (then cleaned it up and backed it up )
