    Cd-to-vinyl

puts a new spin on scratching cds...

you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky

it's RA. they'd blow their load all over some stupid 20 minute loop of a snare if it had a quirky flange setting. - Tiddles

    interesting concept.

but arent the grooves needed for a vinyl needle mean u will get about 2 minutes of audio on one cd?

Depends how far apart the grooves are on the record....They look pretty tight on that picture...

but a vinyl needle is relatively large compared to the laser used to read cds!

            more like a 55!

cant see how it orks. a vinyl needle needs a lot more space than a laser.

            idea is cool.

but u cant fit much on a cd sized disc in terms of vinyl format

they're scratching the surface, so it doesn't matter how far the data grooves that were once read by the laser are apart, since they are underneath the surface.

how many "vinyl" grooves fit onto a certain space is dependet on the amplitude of the recorded audio. so i guess they will simply make the audio more silent to fit more onto it.

pick an old 7" single from like 1970 and play it through a regular dj setup (if you still can get hold of one). you'll notice that the signal will be kind of silent on your mixer, and you'll need to use a pretty high gain level to get it out in a regular volume
