well because you've had Directv for a while now, it makes it hard to change anything. They always want to charge you extra for whatever.

I had Dish Network in ealy 2000, then switched to Direct TV. I love direct tv. and I do watch many HD channels. But I switched before all those were even available.

The reason why I switched back then was because Dish was not offereing FSN in HD or some local channels. Direct TV was.

Anyway, for whatever reason, I think Direct TV is better.

You may want to cancel and give a bogus reason why (moving out) and have your son or someone else open a new account with DirecTV, this way you might be able to get another contract and a better deal.

I have never had a problem with them, customer service has always been top notch. But I don't think I should have to pay for two HD DVR, especially if I am in contract with their service. I'd love to have my son open up an account, but the instant he got on the phone they would know he is 6

We called them yesterday and they basically told us they didn't give a shit. Hell the guy even gave us a termination fee (my contract expires next month). So right there that basically tells me to look elsewhere!

that kinda surprises me. Maybe try again when you're out of contract next month and have some leverage.

if you dont care about sports packages like the NFL Ticket which is a monopoly that direct tv has.... and you dont watch a lot of tv except for rays games and a few other programs that dish carries in hd....Then I think its a no brainer. switch.


i have direct tv just because i order the ticket and they still make you pay an extra fee on top of the NFL ticket fee to get the games in HD which is weak!! considering how much they make you pay for the reievers and hd monthly charge

Ya, I don't subscribe to any of the sports packages. So no loss there. Who knows if I switch and DirecTV decides to give me a courtesy I just might get a better deal. I would have thought when we called yesterday that would have brought something to the table, but they didn't. Maybe I should call and tell them that I am disconnecting my service instead of doing an inquiry call maybe they will get the message and bring something then.
