Re: Michelle Obama’s Early Militant Racism Revealed

I don't really mind her feeling like out of place on campus. I am your average white guy and felt way out of place on a college campus. But as I grew and I matured I discovered that everyone felt out of place and it was my place in the world that I had to make. I discovered this my Sophomore year and then i grew into my own. What scares me is that Mrs. Obama never grew beyond this awkward stage. Being black makes you different, being intelligent makes your different. Hell, being just like everyone else makes you different. No one is normal, normal is a idea not a lifestyle. The deep seeded distrust of White America deeply concerns me. The black population is only 13% of the entire nation. Her husband could be presiding over a huge country but only represent a small minority of this country. Those views define how he will define laws. The majority will be sacrificed for the minority. That doesn't work for me, that isn't a democracy. That being said, Mrs. Mcain won't release her Tax statement from last year... What is she hiding? The current state of affairs are flawed, we need a real revolution not the Obama "televised revolution". That is why I am for Ron Paul. Full disclosure and less government.
      Ron Paul 2008.

ANYWHO..... if she married a half white dude, she can't be all that racist. sorry. yeah she may fend for her race and be able to associate with her race more, but if you marry a 50% white man, you can't be that big of a biggot.

#2. Being black and feeling like an outsider in a predominantly white university is NOT necessarily racist.

#3. Wanting to retain a cultural identity as a black person is NOT necessarily racist.

They all could be part of a racist thought process. But you could also argue that acknowledging the cultural divide is an important step to collectively addressing it in a productive way, that feeling like an outsider could be the product of racism experienced, and that cherising a cultural identity does not have to coincide with a belief of superiority over other cultures.

My point is that are many ways to spin this, based on that thesis alone. You should question why the writers of that accusatory piece chose to spin it the way they did.
My first thought would be, looking from her point of view that Princeton is not the same college experience for blacks as it would be, let's say Grambling, at the time it was written which was probably in the early eighties, racism was still very much on the surface, so why not write a thesis paper somewhat loosely related her experience, I imagine at Princeton Either way, she is not Angela Davis, even though the fro would get some major props and if she is then not doubt Farrakkan will be made Secretary of State, so the cleansing of whitey along with every other non muslim can begin. Now who wants a bean pie?

So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:

          1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
          2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
          3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
          4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...
