Re: Darren Emerson to do another Global Underground
So I guess the current GU process to to pick whoever they can and send them off a location they haven't done a GU before, for a short low key gig noone knows about, so that they can then lie and say the music is inspired by there !
That's a million miles away from GU ibiza when Sasha had a Space residency or GU Sydney when JD was touring Aus.
Here's and idea, if you want a South American inspired comp then pick a South American DJ !Originally posted by res0nat0rOK Lets All Stroke Ron Pauls Cock On 3!Comment

Re: Darren Emerson to do another Global Underground
Apparently this is the process now
Originally posted by cherryjamThe city location is the choice of the DJ- they choose that location based on what is inspiring them in the international scene and on their experiences with that city. This is the first point of call.
Only then do they go into the studio to compile a city album- the mix is based around the vibe, flavour and experience of that particular city.
Next comes the album gig, which acts as a space for the DJ to air their mix/or track choices to that specific community, and for the artwork to be shot.
Emerson obviously chose Bogota due to the music coming from that region and the gigs he had done previously -Bogota being the city that is inspiring him personally at the moment.
The city albums have never claimed to be inspired from the specific album party gig, just the city and underground scene as a whole.Originally posted by res0nat0rOK Lets All Stroke Ron Pauls Cock On 3!Comment

Re: Darren Emerson to do another Global Underground
Its a nightmare licencing them either anyway. I remember on one of the documentaries featuring the BOXED boys someone wanted stupid money just to licence a track for GU13 in the UK. They told them to fuck off. Getting permission to licence a track is one thing. Completing the CD before the event is something else. The only time I can remember licencing all the tracks before the gig was for that Instant Live CD Sasha did.Originally posted by res0nat0rOK Lets All Stroke Ron Pauls Cock On 3!Comment

Re: Darren Emerson to do another Global Underground
Im not a huge fan of Emerson's other GUs, although GU 15 is pretty good and is a favorite of some fellow dj/friends of mine.
That being said, after seeing the tracklisting, i think this looks pretty damn good. Will be picking this up for sure."Always........Dancing in My Mind"Comment

Re: Darren Emerson to do another Global Underground
Yeah the whole licensing issue can put a dent in the overall spontaneity of a set, after hearing Warren's latest effort which was fantastic but quite what the few live sets floating around this summer contained, as for Emerson, hey some great tracks, at least GU has come around a bit musically with Warren, but compared the latest Howells and Tomiie effort on Renaisannce, GU has some catching up to do.Originally posted by ShpiraSo came back last night...
Sven Vath was amazing...he played a god damn killer set...ended up going to that and came to at like 10 am in some whore house in south Amsterdam...no idea how I ended up there...friday was a bit of a blur got really drunk and visited several parties can't remember a whole lot to be honest hehe...saturday was probably the best day that I recall...started up in the nearest coffee shop and going from party to party...beautiful woman, beer and weed...finished the night by taking some shrooms and listening to an amazing elke kleijn set...sunday...i met a nice girl who worked at one of the coffee shops and ended up talking to her for like 6 hours...was supposed to meet her at some DnB party...but instead went for a steak and walked around red light district bars drinking and smoking...monday took it easy went to a coffee shop and took a taxi to airport....
All in all...I think I will be going back there some time soonOriginally posted by IlluminateLet me get this straight.
So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:
1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...
