a thread about death and how it can change your life

I just wanted to let you all know that this past Wednesday the 4th. My father passed away. It was an apparent massive heart attack. He was only 62 years old and had been retired for only three months and three days before his passing.

This really hit me real feckin hard and has been easier to deal with as the days go on. But it still feels like a fucking nightmare that i'm having.

We buried him today in the cemetery, and it's really hard it being Monday and this is the day we would always get together and watch our weekly poker shows. It was one of the things we absolutely loved doing together.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to let you know this and to hopefully help perhaps your father to get to spend some more time with you. My father apparently had undiagnosed heart disease and could probably be here right now if he had just had regular yearly or twice yearly checkups on his body. So if your father is getting to retirement age...or is ever over 40 you really should push him to get his heart checked out, cause it might mean an extra year or so getting to know him and to love him.

Everyone have a wonderful week. It might be a while before I'm on here again, so I say thank you for all the fun I had on this site.

I'm really sorry to hear that Jeffrey, that's awful news. It's always extremely difficult to loose someone that important to you, especially when it's unexpected like that and at such a young age as well.

My father is also 62 and has recently undergone open heart surgery to prevent anything like that from happening to him.

Good luck getting through this very difficult time. Remember the good memories that you shared with him and realize that over time things will get better!
