The pain in the ass, is that you'll have to activate the new one in stores at an AT&T section which will be integrated into apples store. Even if i wanted one, gettin it sent over from the states would be a hassle seeing how they've taken the initiative by going through this annoying process to make sure people activate them on the carrier of there choice! This thread is quite interesting though, I remember posting my thoughts on MS then having some random person on facebook via a wall post ask if they should purchase the damn thing... Apples created a crazy demand for there product, too bad im not one on there whole Closed Business philosophy... Sounds like one big brother approach to me...

Nerds a plenty! U can count on tech-FREAKS being up early with eyes of lust waiting for this shiny object... WHen i first got mine, friends would tease saying it was a prayer rug, n that id set it down on the table n pray to it :P

There pretty heavy duty.. Mine fell in a swimming pool at an after-grad party when i was pretty peaced in mind from alchol... I quickly ducked down n pulled it out, pushing ppl off the dinner tables as if to apply a surgery on the damn device loool... after drying it i saw that the screen was still functioning but the speaker when u call was really low... so i turned it off, n got home n put it ontop of a heated surface n let it rest over night while off... Woke up in the morning n everything was working perfectly... Quite the heavy duty device if you ask me, i thought it was gone for sure!

the only thing that really pisses me off is the ipod for listening to sets. unlike a normal ipod, where you can spin the dial to seek to a certain point, you have to slide your finger along the short seek bar. basically it's impossible to listen to that one cool song that starts at 23:15. you can get close to where you want, but making short seek adjustments is a fucking hassle. has anyone found a way to deal with this?

What i tend to do is hold the fast forward button down, n then it starts skippin the song at a faster interval, which is usually the way i tend to get through my progressive sets, if im in thirst for a part that has a quality slap embedded... seeking with ur finger on the top bar can be pretty annoying, agreed

Yup, love using msn messenger on it... Ppl dont even get a sense that im on a phone, thats how fast u can get with typing on it

Just start a new thread here I think would be fine since it's related to electronics...I'd like to see what it looks like.

thats a huge downer for sure...... dont know how the BB Bold battery life will measure up but my 8700g just lasts and lasts and can fully recharge within 20 - 30 min when plugged into the wall

                Re: 3G iPhone

article says that the battery life goes down so fast is because of the 3G usage.

if you dont use 3G for hours on end, then battery life should be good enough, at least for me.

for the most part, i will be using wi-fi whenever available and 3G only when i have to.

the main thing for me is to finally get an ipod and phone into a single gadget.

i waited on getting the iphone until the 1st revision was because, as with most electronics, they have time to get out all of the kinks on the first version.

went to my att store last night and the dude said i should be fine getting one if i get in line 1.5-2 hours before 8am.

                  Re: 3G iPhone

^^yeah i was hoping that was and is the case, so i can see how not using 3g 24x7 will not make much of a difference.

i might drive across the street and see how long the line is at like 6:30.

this sounds like a dumb question because i should know this, but does this thing just find wifi hotspots and use them automatically? ive never used any wifi crap, just wireless at home and wired everywhere else, no hanging out at starbucks and acting like a struggling writer, etc.

i have a wireless router at home, but it is encrypted, can i add its wep key to my phone so when its in range it always tries to use that?

i do not know... if noone answers ur question i will let you know tomorrow night (figuring i get one, haha)

i know there is an option to turn 3G off (from the review)... as for wi-fi, i would assume it would auto connect to open ones and if u wanted to use a specific one with a WEP key, it would allow you to enter it and use it.

should work just like an apple computer i think.

yes, I know for a fact the fist gen iPod lets you do it (my cousin hooked up to my wireless router at my house and was streaming youtube) so dont see why the second gen wont do it

Got a sneak peak at the appstore interface through an itunes work around, theres atleast 500 plus apps on opening day of the appstore (mostly free apps) ... Meaning for old iphone users upgrading to the new software, a wealth of things to do with ur device... n for the ones goin 3G... even more added value
