So yea. There's this event coming up I wouldn't mind playing at. One was done a short time ago and had over 1100 votes total...and a 3rd one is on the way after this one.
It's not a REAL "rave" per say but it is I guess I'll call it raveish Venue isn't bad and turnouts for events thrown here so far have been relatively positive overall. These guys are legit that do these and other events.
Here's the deal: This is voting done through Surveymonkey and paid for by the promoter out of the budget. It's seriously the first voting-style/popularity contest party I've ever seen that is about as legit as can be (and could give anyone ideas if they want to do it for their event...). Truly, those who promote themselves the best do win.
Only one vote allowed per computer/Mac Address (so wireless networks may be at a disadvantage, but it was decided to do it that way). Cheaters get votes tossed (it was attempted last time and found out...even turned the favor for a couple of eventual winners).
Last time around, people could vote by genre. I got a bit trounced in the house category by a few more locals in this area...the dumb part is the house winner didn't even play because they took another gig elsewhere! So they let #2 & #3 play instead...
This time around, everyone who is on the ballot (36 people total) is lumped together and only ONE DJ on the list can be chosen for the "vote." Top 13 overall getters get slots to play by their choice.
Also winners last time got a small stipend (typically gas money), but it is stated in the rules that they may not get anything at all, as to not put the budget in the deep red. Again, I know these guys a bit and know they're legit, so if you don't get anything to play, the party seriously bombed. But they do their best with what comes out of it.
So, vote for me please if you can!! Takes a couple of minutes to fill out some other basic/pertinent information (as it's also a good way to collect marketing info. to get an idea of what's going on "in the scene"...again, promoters are you listening out there?), but nothing uber-major...a lot can be skipped.
I'm toward the botton listed as 'Matty Feets'
Voting just started and closes July 7th...so you got a fair amount of time if you want to help out.
THANKS!!!!

I'll update occasionally with how I'm doing.
