    Google Desktop Search App

Seems like a useful application, however, i'm sort of paranoid in using it...

"Google Desktop Search collects a limited amount of non-personal information from your computer and sends it to Google"

    what do you think? :WTF:

Searching for files using Windows blows...

hehehe... desp?te my love for google... I wouldn't use it, there's no need to send data from your pc just to make local searches... you could block it using a firewall though, if that doesn't make it stop functioning.

I'll keep doing my searches form TotalCommander (not that I have to search that much... I'm a well organized geek :P)

word to the above said mothas!

don't use it, it's not worth it. the double-click that it takes to open the custom google software can be replaced by a shortcut to google.com on your desktop/start menu/ie favorites toolbar with the same amount of clicking... minus the data collection. Same amount of work, less disk space/network traffic.

                    Re: Google Desktop Search App

I bought some Google Shares and made good and quick money with them but I would neither use their GMail account and the Google Toolbar nor any application where they can gather personal infos to make profiles they can sell to companies so they can spam you with "personalized advertisements". Of course they tell you they don't just like Microsux did until they were forced to tell the truth after gathering personal infos for over two years. Big companies should have enough money to make inquiries and ask people (and maybe even pay them like serious companies do) for their opinions about a product but not this backdoor way where people help them doing market research for free and get spam mails and advertisemnts back as a bonus.
