                        THIS.

thanks to all these damn tree-hugging hippie Democrat liberal environmentalists, we do all that we can to impede any substantial investment in new energy capacity, whether through oil, coal, or nuclear energy.

And now we're thoroughly FUCKED, importing almost 70% of our oil from foreign countries that hate out guts at $140+ per barrel, and who knows how much higher in the future.

Thanks, Ted Kennedy! hope you and your damn f*cking spotted owl are sleeping soundly at night

just fucking stupid, is all I have to say.

yet, a lot of the leased land is unexplored - keyword: unexplored. Meanwhile, the oil companies have been drooling over ANWR for years despite the amount of unexplored leased land that is available, and there is no shortage of that land. First this whole thing was blamed on speculation, then it was blamed on growth in developing nations (which was reportedly slowing, not increasing), then it was blamed on the Israel/Iran fiasco. Anyone notice a trend here?

Well, those things aren't really mutually exclusive, and are probably actually connected. The speculation is fueled (no pun intended) by the realization that growth in developing nations is will cause a steadily increasing demand curve, and by concerned about supply due to the instability of the middle east.
