Top 3 club moments, when the music governed...

Just thought I would post a few memorable club moments that floored the crowd. I'm sure I'm not alone in this type of espionage, so I thought I'd share...

Club Icon in Orlando, Steve Lawler's Lights Out (1) CD release party: It was (unfortunately) nearing the end of the night, and Lawler had been torturing us for hours, when he dropped Cosmos: Take me with you. The club was packed and we were all tired, but we were all alert and silent before the 1st drum kick. The baseline roared, the lighting tech was on-the-money, and the crowd was in unison as we made our peace with God.

Gemini party @ Club Simons in Gainesville with the duo Deep Dish: I had taken a break from the housed out main room only for a moment, because my friends were in the loft listening to AK1200's set. The troop regrouped and returned to the main room. All the lights were off and there was no music playing, the lights started to fade from dim to bright, and the quiet crowd heard, 'VOOIIIIICCCEEESSSS," and the lights dimmed again "VOICES." Dim, "VOICES," Bright, [repeat]...Followed by the wicked baseline, lighting tech did his homework, and the club went off! It was just a sample of the KC Flight & Funky Junction track, but hats-off to DD nonetheless!

(Got to wrap things up with, but not exclusive to, a third good vibration)

I'd say Lawler, yet again, only this time @ Space Miami in the main room. He just arrived around 2:45am and took the decks. The crowd rushed in and my breathing room disappeared. Lawler dug in deep right off the bat with Chiapet: Westworld (Skylark rmx). I haven't heard the full track yet, but it appeared Lawler had just looped the part with no bass, and let it ride for 2 minutes. The crowd appeared to be on their tippy-toes, as if they were missing the winning hockey goal, staring at the elevated DJ booth. The track builds as does the tension in the room, technobeams start to line crowd, Lawler performs a slight hop (maybe back into reality) and with his hand on the mixer as he eyes the crowd, BAMM accompanied by MAYHEM...If I wasn't a part of the crowd, I would say we resembled starved villagers climbing over each other as food charities approached.

Re: Top 3 club moments, when the music governed...

Well, how on Earth can one even begin to sift through all of the good times had in numerous clubs, with numerous awesome sets.

Here's one night in particular that I remember right now.

It was a fairly quiet Saturday, and I hadn't really planned on doing anything that night, when a buddy asked me if I wanted to go and see Max Graham that night in a fairly small venue within' walking distance. Not passing up the chance to see Max, espcially in my home town, I eagerly jumped in my car and made it to the party.

Now you have to picture this club. It probably holds something like 400 people maximum, I don't think they understood the kind of crowd that Max Graham, and MV (Martin Villeneuve if my memory serves me correctly) was going to draw.

So instantly the club was packed. I mean packed. So not being much of a dancer myself, I tried to grab the best spot on the side that I could, so that I could still see the DJ.

Getting to the point, Max had this place bouncing. I mean really bouncing. And we were in this place like sardines. People were on tables, on the bar, literally everywhere where you could cram someone, there was a person.

Now normally I don't like these sorts of crowds, but this was out of this world. It was truly a sight to see.

As the night was drawing closer to the end, I noticed that Max Graham was starting to play some lighter, more melodic stuff with breakdowns. Now being a sucker for a good breakdown, this definately peeked my attention.

I wandered down closer into the middle of the dancefloor because the track that he was playing was out of this world, and I knew the the breakdown was going to be one of those soul-wrenching ones that could bring a tear to even the toughest of dudes.

So there it was, it was a late Saturday night, I was blissed out of my tree, and one of my personal favs is spinning a track that could melt your heart, and out of nowhere this girl walks up to me noticing how much I was enjoying the music, and only after a glace, she kissed me throughout the whole entire breakdown like I was the last person she was ever going to see.

Now many of you might say "..I've kissed plenty of people at bars..", this was not a regular kiss, this was like movie magic in the making.

Needless to say the moment was incredible (..and I will never forget it..) but to top it all off, when the track finished, we gazed for a brief moment, she smiled, walked away, and I never saw her again.

I don't know if this is where this thread was going, but I'm sitting at work and have nothing better to do than reminisce about club moments. I'd write more, but that one in my head takes the cake.

          Nice one Peter!

Very seldom are there any shows within an hour from where I live, so all I can do is reminisce about previous shows. Good thing you had going with that girl too. The relationship ended before either of you started to hate each other.

          nice work,
