Dana Bergquist & Peder G - SOS
Dana and Peder are rapidly becoming one of our favourite partnerships here, and this track highlights exactly why. They recently signed an EP to Urbantorque that also adheres to their winning formula; feel-good, melody-laden house with a nod to the music of days gone by.
SOS sees glittering synths paired alongside a beefy bottom end that keeps the floor ticking over nicely; this is prog as it’s supposed to be. Look out for plenty more from the two of them on the label.
Liluca - Karma
For their second release for us, Liluca go straight for the jugular with the anthemic Karma. The subtlety present in ‘Naam’ is notable by its absence here, with a solid peak time effort being the order of the day. Liluca’s trademark analog synths are present in all their glory, creating an infectious breakdown that is guaranteed to get a response.
Liluca - Karma (PEAK remix)
Stockholm’s Peter Csiky aka PEAK is another up and coming producer who has already turned out a few tracks with Dana. His take on ‘Karma’ is an altogether more menacing affair; a heads down, deeper version that is in sharp contrast to the original. Although a bit more atmospheric, it still packs a punch however.
Somnus Corp & Emjae - Across The Border (Electrobios & Interplay remix)
Emjae follows the label’s first release with a collaboration with Discoteca’s own Somnus Corp. After recently signing tracks to Bedrock, Hope and Baroque, their stock is most definitely rising and this release should further cement this. Remix duties go to two extremely talented young producers, Electrobios and Interplay, who’ve taken the house scene by storm over the last twelve months, both individually and as a team. Here they deliver a peaktime workout that doesn’t stray far from the sound that has brought them to prominence, driving house with a hefty dose of funk.
Dana & Rollo - Sugar Cubes
The versatile Israeli DJ and producer Rollo teams up with Dana here to create ‘Sugar Cubes’, a dark, moody builder that is built round a monster of a bassline and driving beats. They utilise female vocal snippets and a sublime piano riff to create something that will appeal to house and prog DJs alike.
Dana & Rollo - Sugar Cubes (Bravo Mike remix)
To round off the EP, Glideslope head honcho Bravo Mike turns in a deeper, housier mix of Sugar Cubes, in line with his label's output. He does away with the piano present in the original, adds a bit of warmth and serves up something that is perfect for the summer months ahead.
