David Guetta is giving away a free, exclusive unreleased track titled, “Jack is Back’, available as a free download for Beatport users. ‘Jack Is Back’ is going to available next Thursday, July 3rd, so check back then to get your free download.
Why are you giving this free track away specifically on Beatport?
Beatport is my favorite record store because it speaks to the scene where I’m coming from. Some of my records have crossed over, but this is still the scene that matters most for me. After all these fantastic years I’ve had, I thought it would be cool to make some underground tracks again – and I had the idea to give this one away to thank the clubbers for their support.
And why ‘Jack is Back’? What’s the sound?
‘Jack is Back’ has a real old school, acid house feeling; it’s totally different from my usual stuff, but is as much a reflection of my taste as my crossover productions. If you have never heard me DJ, this might surprise you, but if you have spent the early hours in a club with me, you won’t be shocked. There are some very cool DJs supporting it – we mailed it unannounced just before WMC and I love that I’m back in their boxes; as much as I love making hits like ‘Love Is Gone’ which reaches outside of our culture.
What else is on your agenda?
I’m permanently on tour – I played nearly over 120 countries last year – but have based myself in Ibiza for the summer where my F*** Me I’m Famous party is weekly Thursdays at Pacha. I’m resident and guests who are like my electronic friends and family June play with me – on the 19th it was Toca, the 26th will be Laidback Luke and Steve, Sharam, Joachim Garraud will join me through July.
I will still travel in Europe on the weekends and then head back to the US for a 3-week tour in the autumn.
My wife Cathy and I are also preparing for the biggest event we’ve ever promoted – United on July 5th @ Stade De France; the national sports stadium in Paris which holds 45 000 people. It’s me, Carl, Tiesto, Joachim Garraud and Martin Solveig with hundreds of incredible performers.
There aren’t things like Creamfields in France, so this will be be the first dance music party of its kind ever in my country.
We wanted to bring together the best of house, electro, techno and trance just for one night.
