bro the laptop is just storage and the software its the interface ...you use specially coded records that read the mp3 ...so you are still using vinyl..its called final scratch

thank you captain obvious.....however, i wasn't talking about final scratch, i was talking about solely using the laptop as your powerhouse for performing in livesets. ie: using software like ableton during your performance....

oh and final scratch is ghey too....digital junkies can piss off...thanks..

what a pile of crap, the whole thing that you just put a cd in and it does it for you, has he ever heard zabiela play, how you can embrace the technology to get a better live performance, the man is so out of touch.

                2 things:

"You're pulling records out, trying to match the key, the structure, looking for the breaks."

When did he start doing this??? Never did when I saw him.

Eh? I use cdj's, but I don't use it as often as I use my tt's...my cdj's just sit around and it's rare that I pop a cd in.

I managed to get into a Coldcut show a few years ago and they basically were sitting behind a desk with two laptops. They cut up video and music live. You could see everything they were doing because their UI desktops were was beamed up on the screens. Amazing show. So, it can be done! At least by coldcut anyway...

the point is that, if used correctly, all this new technology makes creativity limitless, not more limiting, as Oakey suggests.

not to mention that as a Bedroom DJ and and horribly inept producer, I can still get my hands on good music and share my bad creations with others through the digital format.
