Sometimes I get Whole Foods sushi when i'm bored and in there for something else.. other than that, even Sushi Mac with the rotating conveyer belt is better.

I take a pretty dim view of grocery store sushi in general, but sometimes when you're craving it, it can hold you over. This did the exact opposite.

I bought sushi from City Grocer on 10th & Olive once, Toasty. They used smoked salmon, the kind in a air sealed package, in their philly roll. I nearly walked back and threw it at them.

I hate sushi! Yuk! Being a vegetarian, it doesn't offer many options and I hate the taste of seaweed. I do like vegie tempura and miso soup though.

Very jealous of you in NYC, too, as you've got some great sushi up there. Here in the midwest, getting really fresh seafood that didn't come out of a stream is obviously a challenge. I always make it a point to get some seafood when I hit the coasts...

Sushi is too broad a term to assign a specific "taste," but good sushi tends to have a light, fresh, non-fishy taste. Beyond that, though, it can have an endless number of different flavors.

have you looked at the ingredients on most grocery store sushi? the artificial shit they stick in it is sickening.

get yer sushi fried up like they do out there. that'll add some flavor. maybe dip it in some bbq sauce.
