yeah word. i like it. i'm not intersted in gigging with laptops, as i not only hate the look but the way it keeps ya from interacting with the crowd and feeling the vibe they want. I'll burn CD's just for that purpose. But for at home use....i'm pretty much sold after having looked at some youtube videos.

seriously, this is cool as shit.

of course, i'll need to pick up new needles i think.

yea, a lot of top name dj's are going the digital way, with either serato or traktor, and its pretty cool, you just set your laptop on the side and play records normally.

thats one of the things i hate about a lot of dj's that use laptops, i mean, theres no need to have the thing right there in front of you blocking your crowd view, just set the thing on the side, bring up the track you need and play it, thats it, no need to be looking at the computer all the time.

on that side note, you would definitely need a good laptop if you're running the recording program in the background (now there's 2 memory intensive programs being used)....

I've also seen a few kids who have the setup like such (regardless of which program it is) and apparently don't know it too well...they go to try and set it up when it's their turn to play during the night and can't get the damn thing to work right

I tell ya...if I ever had a club, the booth setup would already have the amps in there pre-hooked up, where the changeover is a snap...flick a switch, hook up USB and off you should go...

i've got 160 gig hard drive with 2gigs of memory. running vista. and a 12 cell battery. (an HP) think that would work? i've had problems in the past with a weaker tower that would always poop out about 45 minutes into the mix, but this seems to be ok so long as the blue screen of death doesn't pop up. I could, perhaps, run a second laptop that I could borrow....

lets say you get Torq, and get used to its features, once you figure out the internatl mixer, wich is pretty simple, you can record your sets there very easely, you just press a buttun and Torq records the output on .wav.

but if youre laptop is fairely new, let say dual core procesor, and the 2 gigs of ram, i would say youre pretty safe to run both programs, i have a fairly decent 1.6mhz Pentium M procesor with 1.5gigs of ram, and it doesnt give me any shit at all.
