Most people would love to hear anything by Digweed if it was recorded. I don't know why people keep asking other members for recent Digweed sets. You get at least one hour a week. Plus any other radio broadcasts he does and in the last 4 years the only ones that appear are by unscrupulous people who record them without his say so. If people got an uninterrupted 10 hour set of his they would still be asking for more the following week. I remember when i got the Zen mix of Sasha's, it must of been played hundreds of times around my house. It kept us going for about 4 years. The Sasha set at Studio from last year probably only got listened to by most people one or two times then every body is asking for the next mix. I feel guilty a lot of really great sets get pushed aside so quick these days. I guess what I'm saying is i don't see the point in requesting sets. Theses loads of great stuff out there already.

yes mate this mite be true, but on the other hand because you have 50gigs of tunes in your library, doesnt mean you wont go again on beatport and spend another £10-£15 to get some more... and then the next day you'll get some more.. and so on! every set is not the same and as long as you have a big hard drive to fit them all in its not a bad thing... and i just dont think its also a bad thing to ask...
Greeks don't fight like heroes, heroes fight like Greeks
Spyro malaka, aptin Patra ise? I used to go to Patra every summer because my grandmother's house was there. Patra was awesome back in the day.
As for the whole issue of music being pushed aside too quickly these days...well it's just the way things are going. An individual track's shelf life has decreased exponentially because new music is being put out so quickly. And even when you have a good track...you usually get a DJ that edits it a bit so they'r ethe only ones that have that mix.
Furthermore, in the days of external hard drives and more memory being available, it's becoming more and more about collecting music. It'd be pretty cool to have every single Digweed set that's ever been recorded...or Nick Warren set, or any other dj out there that you like. Just because people are always looking for new music it doesn't mean that they're not listening to stuff again and again. For example, one of my favorite sets to this day is Danny Howells' 2002 Essential Mix. Another one is Sasha's essential mix from 1999 at Kelly's in Port Lush. But do I want every Howells set I can get my hand on? Fuck yeah. I've got the space for it on my hard drive and eventually I'll be able to listen to it. Also, people want to get their hands on things early on before the sets get lost or misplaced or whatever.
So that being said...DOES anyone have the Digweed set from Cavo? haha

So overall, you're points are a) shut-up, Digweed puts out enough, and b) try enjoying what you have because you're not really enjoying your music if you listen to it like an expensive crack habit.
You make several valid points. However, I can't agree with your overall thesis that getting new mixes more often is such a bad thing. Music is always, we're ambushed by it everywhere. For those of us who happen to focus in on a particular artist or a range of artists, anything we can get our hands on is enjoyable - because we appreciate it for what it is.
I don't download Digweed mixes like some tween downloads the latest pop single.
Hard drive space and fast internet makes it feasible to gobble up a lot of crappy music and keep it for longer. But for those of us who do enjoy a fine-aged Digweed set, I always enjoy adding one to my collection. It's one more set I have as an option to enjoy when I'm looking for that perfect mood or energy.
As far as your last point, I do concur. There is so much stuff out there that it's easy to stop enjoying the music itself and simply enjoying something new. It's like virtual materialism. It is easy for mixes to become disposable, here one weekend, forgotten the next.
Keep your faith in this community. The reason we're all here is that we enjoy progressive house, electronica, whatever you want to call it this week. We like John Digweed and similar artists. When they put something out, we listen. We savor it like the beautiful bouquet off the tip of a brand new Pinot from somewhere north of Napa, we slosh it around in our heads for a while like putting a rich, deep Merlot on your tongue. We swallow deep and let it infect our bodies, even our souls, like the tannins of a Chianti spreading itself throughout your system.
We listen and live.
If we wanted hollow, sugar candy, we'd all be out running Safari in "Private Browsing" mode and looking for fresh Tiesto.
Err, not that I do that. Or. Anything. I mean, Digweed weekly fixes should be enough for everybody!
Yeah but you guys aren't asking for a Digweed set that was recorded. Your just making the same old pointless request. Maybe we should have a sub forum where Spyros could request every gig on Digweed's schedule, or Just every DJ set from any DJ that played in Greece. I would love to have sets from most of the gigs i went to, but i don't see the point in asking. If it turns up, It turns up. I could understand the request slightly if spyros had actually gone to the gig as maybe he would want a reminder of that evening. I mean how often do you hear reports of a Digweed gig being, Sick, Off The Head, Tore The Roof Off or Destroyed The Whole Place so on,so on. Its not like he turned up in Greece and thought "I'm not going to play the usual shite tonight, I'm going to play all the best stuff i keep for myself." No hes going to play records that have featured on recent Transition's broadcasts, his Essential Mix or his up and coming shows. So if you weren't there whats the point in asking
I agree with the notion that we already get alot of good & free material, but I can't follow suit with the principle that just because it was recorded for one venue it must stay that way. Whats that going to do to those in the near future who will want a cache' of works to go back too and reexamine. I wasnt one of those who got Sasha Studio set this year and then immediately begged for WMC sets, yet I see many of those artists that want there shit out getting thust out of the light by artists that cant make shit[+ Sasha has started becoming hard to find when it comes to sets]. I was spoiled when i started to collect, so now i see what i need to for me to appreciate the time that goes into them. As sets go, there will always be REQUESTS for every little thing played, no matter what. I think though, that as time goes on and the net evolves even more that artist collections will become something more forgotten by the MAINSTREAMERS & those who shit on anything that is not up to THERE expectations. Furthermore, to the point, and Finally, BE AWARE, this is the time when we make it for ourselves, so if your gonna break it for all, expect my foot to come sailing towards your head like gangbusters.
For me its not so easy to know whats the momentary tracks for my favorite artist, he's so recluse that I dont know if HE even has any sort of collection of his works to speak of[i wouldnt doubt it]. I really wish that sasha was the host[resident] of transitions but Digweed is cool. Maybe someday he'll do something like that, but till then I'll be waiting patiently for his consistantly more Exclusive mixes!
@PartyInGreece: pou eisai filaraki?? nai maga mou apo Patra eimai an kai menw anglia pros to paron! esy apo pou?
@chunky: did you know that Myconos is the most famous of the Greek islands for electronic dance music?? did you know that Cavo Paradiso is the best summer club just for the events and the DJs who go there?? did you know that Digweed started playing @ 3.00am and finished his set @ 10.00am as he does every summer when his longest set there in 2004 started @ 3.00am and finished @ 11.30am?? did you know that Cavo is one of Digweeds and Cattaneos favourite places to play?
i didnt start yesterday listening to edm & digweed, mate and im definately not asking for any random set from Greece as there should be loads! being almost every summer tho at digweed in cavo,i know what im talking about! you want to call it "reminder"? i call it MAGIC!
and as long as a moderator of [ms] wont ban the members requests, of famous djs in top clubs all over the world, i still dont see why is bad to ask....

Thanks for the lesson on clubbing locations i never intend to go to. I don't really see the relevance of the start and finish times. Its fairly common for Digweed to play for a long time providing the licencing restrictions allow him to do so. If it really was Digweed's and Cattaneo's favorite place to play you would think they would play more often. Its fairly standard practice to say nice things about a club when you are playing there to promoters or local media. I've herd Digweed say the same thing about Fabric, Twilo, Heaven, and so on. The thing that really puzzles me is why you didn't go. I had a spare weekend last weekend so i flew out to Ibiza to see Digweed and I'm not exactly his biggest fan. You mite not think it's just another random request but it is.
Personally I would rather go and see any DJ at Kristal in Bucharest or Flört The Club, Siófok in Hungary before i set foot in Greece and the sets that come out of there really are good. Danny Howells played Flört a few months ago, I hope that one pops up eventually. But i don't see the point in asking.
The thing here is if getting this set of a show you attended is so important, then sneak in a MP3 recorder with a shotgun mic and make a bootleg recording or stand around for two hours holding a digital camera being very quiet and still, if hearing any DJ's set is so important, I do this all the time and maybe the usual five or six people will take the time to download the files, granted they tend to be big, but if you want something make an effort to do it yourself. Hell, I would love to hear or see a couple hours worth of that Cavo Paradiso show, but understand dancing your ass off all night takes preference, next time hook us up with some footage, then maybe Chunky will cut you some slack.

So came back last night...
Sven Vath was amazing...he played a god damn killer set...ended up going to that and came to at like 10 am in some whore house in south Amsterdam...no idea how I ended up there...friday was a bit of a blur got really drunk and visited several parties can't remember a whole lot to be honest hehe...saturday was probably the best day that I recall...started up in the nearest coffee shop and going from party to party...beautiful woman, beer and weed...finished the night by taking some shrooms and listening to an amazing elke kleijn set...sunday...i met a nice girl who worked at one of the coffee shops and ended up talking to her for like 6 hours...was supposed to meet her at some DnB party...but instead went for a steak and walked around red light district bars drinking and smoking...monday took it easy went to a coffee shop and took a taxi to airport....
All in all...I think I will be going back there some time soon

Let me get this straight.
So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:
1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...
I believe there were times in the past that it was really easy and common to record sets from gigs without DJ's approval ... and next day someone would upload it on the internet.
The last 3-4 years that I have seen Mr Digweed spinning, I see him coming to the DJ booth, before he starts dropping his choons, and thoroughly scanning for plugged-in suspicious devices!
Therefore, I am definitely sure that every single live set we get to listen ( well at least the ones from top ranking DJs who are most likely to drop unsigned and unreleased records) have been approved for sharing by the DJ himself. That is why lately it has started becoming hard to find when it comes to sets. We are all still waiting for Sasha and Digweed WMC yaght party set and it's been almost 5 months and still we don't have anything
To conclude, let's be patient and wait from the man himself to share with us his live sets and recordings.
Peace
P.S. Cavo Paradiso is a great club, but its sounding system is nothing compared to Room1 of Fabric ... Respect
because i dont think its fair for the 320 members who actually clicked on this thread seeing the replies and thinking they would get another digweed set and all they see is chunky trying to convince me that is wrong to ask i will just say this and wont post again(unless ofcourse the set shows up!):
if this set was recorded by an old [ms] member i dont think i would even need to post this request because the set would be already here.this request is for some new member who just registered yesterday or today, was in cavo that night and recorded the set. i dont think a new member would post the set here so quick otherwise. with this request maybe he would. and if the second post of this thread was a link for the set would you download it,or would you start bitching again that is not right to ask?
