Dont generalize like that sir. There are less german crappy cars than japanese ...

The build quality in BMWs is superb, well not the latest ones that come from the US but for example the old M models that were handbuilt, they age very well and i could say way better than an asian car that starts sounding like there where tictac boxes hidden all over the car.

They might be reliable in terms of working but in build quality, i doubt it.
    Dont panic, its organic.

build quality...acuras are incredible. I've driven mine well over 100,000 km...and HARD. its still a tank on the road, rock solid, and quiet as the day i bought it. bmw's would have to be truly spectacular to top it, and the anecdotal stories from friends is that they're good, but not as good as honda/acura.

          .
Nope. Do some research dude, use google, japs are smoking germans in terms of reliability and quality. I'm not even going to spend any time arguing with you about it, because you're just pulling made up stuff out of your head about what you think you know, because you LIKE bmws better.

well not the latest ones that come from the US but for example the old M models that were handbuilt, they age very well and i could say way better than an asian car that starts sounding like there where tictac boxes hidden all over the car.
lol. especially ^that part. you're already making excuses for your made up argument. er uh, maybe not the new ones, but, uh...tictac boxes all over the car? really?

the japanese make the most reliable well built cars on the planet. period.

hey, i'll concede that german cars are more fun to drive, and i'll even give you some design points. but that's not what we're talking about here.

335 is my next car of choice... hopefully they dont look like shit in a couple of years, haha.

that TL looks like crap though... front end looks like a MDX and the back looks almost identicle to the current Accords.

i like jenks' TL better than this tbh

The front reminds me of the new Chevy Volt.

The first thing to go on the 335i will be the turbo (even though they're Japanese - made by Mitsubishi) and I've been reading tons of threads of about knockings from the turbo. That is the SOLE reason I'm considering the 328xi instead of the 335xi. Imagine finishing your warranty and having that turbo breakdown, fixing that shit will be half the price of the car.

The other thing that BMW's are NOTORIOUS for are electronics. As one user on bimmerpost said it, the BMW electrical gremlins come with EVERY car by default. It's only a matter of time when they wake up. Then, you have to decide whether you want to spend out of your ass to get shit fixed OR you want trade it in and be happy.

But to give BMWs due credit, the one thing Bimmers ARE known for are their engines. They're work horses. Yea you'll get a few bad ones here and there but BMW primarily is a "motor" company as is "Honda".

Acura's too went through their shit spell with the 2001 - 2003 TLs and their tranny recalls. I personally know 1 guy who's had his 2002 tranny changed 3 times and it's still not perfect. So clearly that problem was way beyond just the tranny.

But BMW have come a long way with their latest iteration of new 3 series introduced after 06. These have been relatively promising in terms of reliability with close to no real nightmares being reported to date (at least those that I've heard/read off and believe me, I've spent my time on the WWW researching the car before I got it). Other than blowing out my left low beam a couple of times, I haven't had any issues on mine. What BMW DOES shine in, is the ownership experience. I've formed a GREAT rapport with a dealership and they will have the car picked up for service, they will leave behind another 3 series loaner, and return the car the same or very next day. Laurel BMW in PA (Allan's the man to go to) to give them due due credit.

Moreover, when the car's been serviced, BMW N/A customer service will call you and take your overview on the service, they have an internal rating system for their dealers and give you, the buyer, the strength to make sure you CAN do something to improve the ownership experience.

Acura did 2 shits for me since I've owned the car since 2000 to make owning the Acura an "experience". So for me, paying that little extra for BMW is well worth the 5+ years I'll have the car.

truth. i've never seen a company squeeze so much power/torque out of a small engine like bmw does.

bingo..... and all engines made after 06 (dont remember what they're called, VVTOL or VTOL or something), they're pretty much made to work the way the human lung is i.e. breathing gets rapid when you're running and slows down when you're not. I dont exactly know how this works with the engine but the result is astronomical from a power and fuel consumption perspective.

The car moves like you wouldn't believe it. The power delivery through the revv band is the highest in any car I've driven AND the car will give you a wicked gas mileage. Having filled 14 - 15 gallons every tank up, I can easily pull between 480 - 500 miles on a tank on the highway.

My Tl barely pushes past 350, but then again, mine is a 97 TL and I know they did a heck of job on the more recent ones. Jenks how much are you pulling on yours on tankful with highway driving?

mpg? really depends on how my day is going and how i'm treating the car. lol. it's my wife's car so she would know better what the average mileage is.

last time i checked the mpg on the hwy it got around 28. i think that's @ 320-330 miles. We don't get that in the city tho, which is where most of the driving occurs.

It's better than my tacoma which gets 18.

yea the WRX STi puts out comparatively more power because of its 2.5 ltr displacement 16 valve (vs. 3.0 ltr 24 valve on the 335) but the mpg on it takes a beating
