wheres all the spark went ?

guess u cant expect that everytime thought after all he's human but u would think that with the amount of tunes coming his way there must be better than that surely.

Out of interest red1 what are your favourite Sasha mixes recent and old ?

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

Just want to bitch about this set real quick.

On the intro, I'm promised the "World's Best DJ's on the World's Best Turntables". I was not promised "the world's best laptop or Maven controller". I've been decieved....

it's RA. they'd blow their load all over some stupid 20 minute loop of a snare if it had a quirky flange setting. - Tiddles

have to say m8 that the essential mix in 2005 was deff one of the best mixes i,ve heard in my entire life, that was him on fire, never heard anything like that in my life, i had a shitload of sasha mixes but i deleted the lot so i dont know simon, there were many around the period of 2005 and even further back that were outstanding

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

Thanks red1 ... just gives me an insight into what you like - the Maida Vale EM was special, I actually saw him at Fabric that night and he played a pretty decent set with some of the music from that EM ... the rest of 2005 and 2006 I found his sets a real mixed bag, and (amnesia'07 aside) the 2007/08 sets have been disappointing.

There were some other exceptions (parts of Avalon, Warung, Studio) .. his better sets were with Diggers (2005 Southfest and Bonaroo).

Personally I like Sasha either very dark (but with beats) - 2000/2001 was a good period for this with Tel Aviv, Space etc. or with melodies (up to 1999 and then 2002 - 2004 with La Locomotive through to Pacha).

I think his amnesia set has more of a flow, is more melodic and housey in parts. Just my opinion.

Agree with Red1. There have been sooooo many world class sets from him that the recent stuff the past couple years just doesn't hold a candle to the current. I thought his early stuff through 2002 was superb. Okyo probably my fave during that period. Then 2005 in my opinion was his peak. Axis, Maida Vale, Lithuania, Lush, Aria, and Kristal New Year's to name a few, also agree the em 2007 was fantastic. The 2008 Creamfields Em and thank you mix were good and definitely a step up from previous sets. They just don't measure up to the past but I'll continue to grab every set because he has the talent to really move your soul unlike any DJ I've ever listened to(ok Digweed too). It's just hard not to measure his current stuff to the past.

Oh that is soo brilliant. Almost NONE of the DLVDJ's use turntables anymore anyway. about the closest thing they come to tables is the cdj's.

digweeds far far far better now than he's ever been

i used to hate his style, was never really a fan untill recent

kind of crazy though as i used to listen more to sasha one the northern exposure cd but now i'd rather listen to the digweed part, getting old

i agree, the mix is good, but am i the only one who notices he bangs it out for 28 minutes, and then......the energy level drops at the track at about 29 minutes in? and then he slowly rebuilds the set again? what was up with that?

Question for Red1 and 88Mariner... Do you guys spin music or have ever DJ'd?
