All in all...I think I will be going back there some time soon

there's going to come a point in time where all djing is is simply pushing a button for tracks that have been preselected.

the future of djing, i'm beginning to think, has less to do with the tools at one's disposal, and more to do with overall track selection and the ability to read a crowd. anyone can have thousands of dollars of equipment, but if you can't pick good choons to hook the crowd in, then who cares if you've got mp3's, vinyl, cd's, or otherwise.

/will always be more impressed with people who use vinyl
you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky

it's RA. they'd blow their load all over some stupid 20 minute loop of a snare if it had a quirky flange setting. - Tiddles

Selection and Manipulation. A little channeling doesn't hurt.

i agree. I think what i was trying to address is that using all sorts of advanced technology doesn't make you better. I remember when Zabiela started using all sorts of effects (and lisle, and d:fuse, etc...) and it was like, wow, look how awesome that is. i also thought sasha's maven, when he started using it, was so fascinating in the way it was used and such. either of them could put on lame ass tracks and tweak it to make it sound good. (i think this could also be interpreted as they can choose mediocre tracks b/c of these effects units). But even that can only go so far. hmm...

i want to see the microsoft touchscreen computers be developed in a different manner. it would be amazing to have the ability load up the master recordings right from / into a protools/abelton/reason type software that works with teh touchscreen. then clubs could install a large touchscreen in front of the booth and we could watch the DJ's build and change a set visually. the idea of linking a basic light programme into the individual parts of songs could be utilized as well. literally, they could play the whole club, from the music, to tteh lights to the ppl. think the computer from minority report, but controlling abelton live.
