    Obama's Speech

Fuck you, pessimists. This was perfect regardless of party (except for policy for some of you).
    http://www.myspace.com/mjdubmusic

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

Dude stone cold hit it out of the park. Truly one for the ages. Given all the build up, there was a very real possibility of a let down, but Obama did not disappoint. Unreal.

      Re: Obama's Speech

i thought he took about 10-15 mins to warm up - not surprising considering he was in front 80, 000 people.
But from then on he hit every issue he had to, was forceful when he needed to be and the pace was fantastic - rising then slowing down then rising again.
      great stuff

      {we wont see the 73 year old do anything as remotely passionate next week!}

fine speech. he struck a lot of deep keynotes with regards to spiritual and ethical majesty wouldn't you say? did he write it? it looked like he sure meant it tho.

cant judge what his innermost motives might be, but that went well. he is goin to be really tough to beat.. that stadium was raging with fervor too.

He writes his own speeches. Apparently he sealed himself inside his hotel room last night and just started writing for hours what was coming to his mind.

After letting it sink in a little more, I especially enjoyed the methodical, point-by-point dismantling of John McCain's bullshit. A few notable points of awesomeness:

How else could he propose hundreds of billions in tax breaks for big corporations and oil companies but not one penny of tax relief to more than one hundred million Americans? How else could he offer a health care plan that would actually tax people's benefits, or an education plan that would do nothing to help families pay for college, or a plan that would privatize Social Security and gamble your retirement?

It's not because John McCain doesn't care. It's because John McCain doesn't get it.

The McCain campaign's response right after this speech was laughable too. They should've just left it alone.

Good luck to the man but honesty and politics simply don't mix - Uk's been had over for the last 10 years by a con man called tony blair so watch out. Polished performances are usually bullshit.

yeah, call it political blah if you will. but nevertheless, he has arrived at an extremely unique and opportune vantage point to give suggestion, solace and inspiration to discouraged mobs, who have shunned national interests in the past -- or who simply don't care for a united purpose.

If he provides any form of inspiration and direction to his people then all power to him - surely only good can come of that. I'm over here so i don't know but he seems to be making people listen, and therefore think. We now have a leader who has no direction and inspires only sympathy. His name is Gordon but i doubt you've heard of him.
