Re: Obama's Speech
btw, caught this from Jimmy Kimmel the other night, kinda funny
"Why Obama would pick someone with the last name Biden is beyond me. Not that there's anything wrong with the name Biden in and of itself, but "Obama-Biden" -- it's like they're trying to make their ticket sound as much like Osama bin Laden as possible."Comment

Re: Obama's Speech
no seriously, give me a minute and i'll elaborate on this... ill come back and edit this post
EDIT:
i'll give you that obama can give a good speech, or to be more accurate, he can read a good speech written by a very good writer.
his speech didnt bring out anything new, it was the same old shit he's been saying with no specific plans or outlines. he didnt say anything new and kept hammering the same points. he just listed his promises, a little bit for everyone to make everyone happy. just like all of his speeches, they are aimed to make everyone happy. imo, just a bullshitter, a typical politician, nothing different here. from something i read in Time: During his time at Harvard Law School in the 1980s, the student body was deeply divided. In one heated debate, Obama so adroitly summarized the various positions without tipping his own hand that by the end of the meeting, as Professor Charles Ogletree told one newspaper, "everyone was nodding, Oh, he agrees with me." >> that's exactly what he's trying to do.
now some of the things he brought up were complete shit: he said that his plans will cost money but he will pay for it by closing corporate loopholes, tax havens, and programs out of the budget that arent needed... really obama? i guess thats different now from what he used to say that he wont eliminate deficit, more likelt not even bring it down at all in his first term given how many programs he wants to implement. the quote about mccain saying that he believed the economy has made great progress under bush taken out of context was lulzy. oh yeah he will ensure our troups will have the equipment they need in battle. how is he going to do that? by voting against the critical funding bill for the troups in iraq and afghanistan? yeah im sure that will do it. he also said he will try to ring reps and dems together, yet he has voted with his party 96-97% of the time. bi-partisan just like my dick is bi-partisan (only ill admit it im straight and my dick will vote for vajin 100% of the time, niiiice). again he's just saying shit just to say shit.
he wants us to achieve energy independence? how? he's agains offshore drilling, he's agains the gas tax holiday, he's against nuclear power, he's asking for a windfall profits tax on oil companies (who's that going to be passed on to?). brb inflating my tires
oh and my favorite: he will cut taxes for 95% of all working families.from factcheck. org "What Obama voted for was a budget resolution that would have allowed most of the provisions of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts to expire. In particular, the resolution would allow the 25 percent tax bracket to return to its pre-2001 level of 28 percent. That bracket kicks in at $32,550 for an individual or $65,100 for a married couple. … But as those of you who have filled out a 1040 know, that’s not actually how income taxes work. We don’t pay taxes on our total earnings; we pay them based on our ‘taxable income.’ The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center’s Eric Toder told FactCheck.org that ‘people with taxable income of $32,000 would have a total income greater than that.’ In 2008, anyone filing taxes with single status would be entitled to a standar d deduction of $5,450, as well as a personal exemption of $3,500. So to have a taxable income high enough to reach the 25 percent bracket, an individual would need to earn at least $41,500 in total income, while a married couple would need a combined income of at least $83,000.”Comment

Re: Obama's Speech
Didn't think it required a response. You're just recycling the same criticisms you always use, apart from the new and frankly bizarre criticism that he has in the past helped people reach reconciliation which, by the way, is one of the many roles the president has.
Probably worth mentioning that you're mixing apples and oranges on the tax thing. You're talking about a non-binding vote in the past, while his tax proposal is just that, a proposal, which means that it would be, by definition, in the future.Comment

He is a corporate puppy.. you can't get to this kind of level until you have made promises to major corps.. if you don't agree that's fine..Comment
