Re: This is the End...... no really it is this time
Was The End doing badly? I thought places like Fabric and The End were it, where else would people go?

Oh. My. God. James absolutely obliterated the island tonight. The last time there was so much destruction, Obi Wan Kenobi had to take a seat on the Falcon after the Death Star said "hi and bye" to Leia's homeworld.
I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

Strange.
Turnmills and The Cross have gone ... now they open Matter which seems quite far out of the centre. Wonder if it will last longer than Home !
The difficulty is having (a) consistently good line ups (b) decent residents (that stay and build up a following), and (c) getting the cubbers in regularly when many can't afford those big nights out.
3 x Bedrocks a year and 1 x Sasha visit per annum won't keep you open over 12-
months !
As I began to read your post I thought of Home, and then you mentioned it. Did you ever go? We had planned to go, but by the time we got to London it was shut down already. Many "legendary" clubs are closing down. Didn't the hippodrome close down too?
Re: This is the End...... no really it is this time
Yeah, I heard about this about a week or so ago. It's a damn shame imho.
But I am glad to say I was able to venture to this mecca of tech house when I was in London, and it was a truly remarkable experience. Excellent venue.
I feel bad for Richard, Layo, and the bunch. It's been a good run for them and it's a shame that it will be no more.

Darren Hughes thought he'd struck gold with Home after he'd been running Cream to lock-outs every week ... a good track record doesn't always guarantee success.
I think the 2 things that killed home were
a) it was at leicester square
b) Paul Oakenfold was a resident
Sad news indeed that The End is closing, but its been coming for a while, and im sure the promoters will all move on to new ventures. Its not like Layo, Mr C etc are retiring....
