Resignations during the Presidential / VP race?

Just wondering - in any presidential race in history - have those running ever pulled out of the race - after they were nominated etc

ie has someone running for the presidency ever been forced to pull out or the person that picked them to be VP pushed them out after the campaign started?

Tom Eagleton was McGovern's running mate in 1972 briefly -- was replaced by Sargent Shriver.
